Microsoft fans...

Have you visited the Windows Update site lately? If so, you'll see there's a public preview of IE6 available for download. Anyone tried it out yet? Is it any good? Most importantly, will it hose my system if I install or uninstall it? Maybe I'll be the brave first tester from AK... http://www.augustknights.com/ubb/eek.gif

as a web designer, i'm basically in on what's going on with browsers. for you, i'd say stick with your current ie version. microsoft's beta programs really show - ie6 can't use hover links (the color change over links here at ak forums).

You mean that support for CSS has been decreased in IE 6?

That's what I thought. The color change when you hover over a link is accomplished by redefining the "a" tag in CSS, like this:

A:link {text-decoration: none; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans Serif; color: #00FF33;}
A:visited {text-decoration: none; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetiva, Geneva, Sans Serif; color: #00FF33;}
A:active {text-decoration: none; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans Serif; color: #FF0000;}
A:hover {text-decoration: none; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans Serif; color: #FFFF00;}

i personally don't use ie6. i don't want my new machine to get ruined! http://www.augustknights.com/ubb/smile.gif i guess i got some bad information about it.

i still don't recommend using microsoft betas. they're just not worth putting on our gaming machines.

as for css, i'm sure it'll have better css2 support. i hope the option for different colored scrollbars is back - ie 5.5 really stood out for that.

p.s. why does a:active have no geneva font in its font-family?

Somebody forgot to code it in. Hardly any reason to do so, though; everyone at least has Arial.

Geneva is for either Macs or Unix users that don't have Verdana, Arial, etc... I can't remember which one, specifically uses. I'd guess Macs if I had to... Helvetica is probably what Unix users need... Maybe...
