Now that I've finally gotten everything off my old cpu onto my new Dell, I've noted that programs that use the dial-up connection tend to start-up whenever I boot the comp. At times, it's of convience to me since it automatically dials my default connection, but for when I plan to do just web design, it's a pain in the ass.

Now I know how to disable programs at startup w/o 3rd party software, and the necessary clicks to configure the default connection to run a DOS program, which in return, run other apps upon connection. My only question is what do I write in Notepad to make a DOS batch file? Thanks in advance.

PS - Where's that old 56K modem tuning guide that Zorro wrote? I'd like to get my hands on that.

You can write batch files in Notepad.exe, yes. You can use any text editor which doesn't embed control characters into the file. You can even use MS Word as long as you choose, "Save As", "Text Only".

That wasn't my question. Question was what do I write in Notepad to have programs startup when batch file is run? Sorry for any inconvience.

Just type in the command line of each program you want to run (on separate lines), as if you were running them from an MS-DOS prompt.
