    Disgusted...

My rant on the proposed "Tax Rebate".

Once Again, the Fiscal Liberal President Bush appears happy to go along with redistribution of wealth in order to accomplish nothing but a warm fuzzy feeling and a $150billion addition to the deficit. This new “Tax Rebate” deal that is supposedly worked out between the Republicans and Democrats appears to include the fact that “Democrats have dropped plans to increase food stamp aid and extend unemployment benefits while Republicans have agreed to allow TAX WELFARE to go to people who don’t pay income taxes, sources said.“ That’s right… when you give tax dollars to people who did not pay taxes, it is NOT A TAX REBATE. IT IS TAX WELFARE AND SIMPLE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH. It’s sickening that Republicans tolerate this crap, since I’ve come to expect it from Bush. But the election is coming up and anything the Pols can do to make everyone have a warm group huggie fuzzy feeling is fine with them, regardless of the fact it makes little economic sense and has little or no chance of boosting the economy in any measurable capacity. The 2001 “tax rebates” - The last time President Bush supported TAX WELFARE - did little to economic activity. Compare that to 2003 when we had actual tax reductions and the impact it had on economic activity.

It's funny how adding to the deficit is A-OK as long as it includes WELFARE and REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH.

Exactly. I thought Democrats swear that reduced taxes DOES NOT result in a better economy or increased tax revenue? Oh, that's right... it's an election year so giving away "free" money makes sense to them now....

The problem is that government waste is epidemic and both sides of the aisle feed off of the teet.

We have to kill the old sow.

Particularly so with an upcoming election.

You shouldn't have had to pay for it in the first place. I have a -500 to 500 range for my returns. If I owe more than $500, I increase the amount deducted. If I get back more than $500, I reduce the amount deducted. I don't like negative return "savings" accounts. Particularly when the money is being squandered by politicians.

That being said, thanks to some business investment this year - I have some nice Schedule C deductions for the year which should pay off nicely.

Now I just need to convince the wife that spending $2000 to buy a new PC is our way of "helping the economy".
