    Ebay changes

Does anyone else here use Ebay semi-regularly? I've been a member since 1998, and the upcoming changes to the site have me concerned -- mostly the fact that sellers can no longer leave feedback for buyers. How am I supposed to screen out asshats now?

    Story is here:
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/01/31/e....ap/index.html

Buyer feedback has saved me a few times, for example the time I had a high bidder with a record of demanding only COD purchases, no matter what the auction terms said. I contacted him and told him there would be no changes to the terms of the auction, and that it was a binding contract. Got a series of increasing hostile emails from the asshat before someone outbid him and took him out of play. Buyer feedback also allowed me to just outright refuse bids by anyone with X number of negative feedback.

I'm both a buyer and seller on Ebay, and I've never received bad feedback in either role ... I'm not sure what issue this "fix" is addressing. All it will do is hurt sellers.

I read that article, and apparently they found a number of bad sellers withholding their buyer feedback and leaving negative reports in retaliation if the buyer gave the seller a negative feedback. Seems to me they could prevent that by forcing the seller to give buyer feedback first, before allowing the buyer to rate the seller. That way everyone could still leave feedback.

eBay did a "smart" thing in their pricing changes.. .and they follow it up with this. This removes all integrity from the system in terms of buyer/seller leaving feedback for one another.

I don't use eBay a "ton", but I'll certainly use it less if this goes into effect.
