    Finding your local sex offenders

    http://www.familywatchdog.us/

Somewhat of an amusing link. I don't take it too seriously, since "sex offense" is a pretty broad term.

I read a story awhile back about some lady that went all crazy on a neighbor after a website showed that a sex-offender was living there. She posted flyers, harassed him every he left his house and went to city council meetings to have him removed from the city. The only problem was that the information was old and the perv had moved years ago. Nice.

I ran across a site the other day that cross-referenced information with Google maps, the theory being that you'd enter your address and they'd display a map pinpointing every convicted violent felon living around you.

I thought it was kind of funny when I punched in my address, it showed a number of the people in the middle of Elliott Bay... (possibly at the bottom?)

Well Im looking at a new house a couple of blocks from my old house. Its twice as big and a forclouse so the price is amazing. The house needs work which with the money im making on my old house is more than enough. Sounds too good to be true, I checked the website listed and my next door neighbor, right next door to me is a rapist. Now how do I check if he still lives there without going there or staking out. And if he still lives there would you move your young beutiful family next door. Now think of this, 10 years ago I would have never even known about him, would have moved right in. So what would you do?

Simple. Move in. Kill your neighbor and put his head on a spike on your front yard as a warning to others. That's what I would do.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.

In all seriousness, I'd talk to the mailman. If you ever want to find out what's going on in any neighborhood in America, that's who can tell you the real story, because he walks it and sees it every day.

It's a trick I learned from my friend Greg Kramer, who used to be a mailman.

Really? Because the only thing my mailman ever does is walk through our mulch, show up at a different hour every day, bend my magazine every which way he can, and scuff our porch railings when he climbs over them.....

I say definitely research this person and what they were convicted of. There are certain crimes which will get you labelled as a "sex offender" while in all honesty, those people are probably no threat to you or your family. I know here in Louisiana, most of the sex offenders I see near me were charged with "Crimes against Nature", which in this state can mean any number of things (gay sex, oral sex). Granted, our Napoleonic code is unique in the country, but I know of other states that have similar laws. Also, an 18-year old convicted of sexual conduct with his minor girlfriend will be labelled a 'sex offender', and sometimes uriniting in public can be classified as such as well (ok, not that peeing outside is a great habit to have, but imo doesn't necessarly mean you are a sexual predator...I bet most of you men have done it at some point).

Although I fully agree with the registering of sex offenders, I say just do your research before you make a decision.

edit: I totally didn't read your post carefully enough and missed the word "rapist", so I guess the above doesn't really apply.

All seriousness aside, that was the funniest responses to a post I have ever seen. I love yall!

Well I looked at the house today again and saw a another neighbor on the street and started to talk to him. Well you know what was on my mind, so I asked him! It turns out they already ran him out of town, or street I should say. The HOA got involed too which I think is illegal but he moved a few months back. So I guess I might put an offer on the house this weekend.
