The new (and last?) patch has been released. It is not an auto patch apparently, and needs to be downloaded.

Basically, due to the fact that I have seen not just one, but TWO patches rolled back before they go to Auto Update, I want to make sure this patch is sticking. There's a big stink over in the TW forums that I've been tracking since last night about problems with the patch. Whether that represents a small minority (which it LIKELY does) or not, I can't say for sure, but I want to make sure that this bad boy has been properly blessed. Additionally, I need to go harrass Loki to be sure the Linux version is forthcoming. I'll stay on top of this, but PLEASE don't download the patch until I say it's okay, okay?

The newest T2 Official patch is out... we have mirrored it here... Please get it installed asap. All matches on all T2 ladders should begin to use this patch. All servers should be updated to use the latest official patch. If teams are unable to get their servers updated for any games tonite, and you would like to reschedule, the maximum reschedule time is 3 days out, and matches should only require rescheduling if an adequate server is unable to be found.

For now, CRC checked should remain enabled, meaning, no custom skins. This is not meant to hinder teams who wish to colorfy their game, but to help stop those who feel an advantage is needed in any way possible.

The newest patch includes demos, which is wonderful! Please start to record matches, so that disputes can be resolved faster, and more accurately. Tribes 1 demos were the key to it's survival, hopefully with T2 demos, we can revive the game, and prove how exciting a game it really is.

We definitely will have everything in place by the next match, but until that linux patch gets released, we have to wait. I personally hope we are able to practice with the new patch tonight as it seems there are a large number of gameplay changes that come with this patch that may take some getting use to.

It appears that the new strict CRC checking that prevents ANY 3rd party skins (to even your weapon icons) is causing clients to randomly get booted from servers. Here's what Jason Sharp sent in:
$Host::CRCTextures="1"

to

$Host::CRCTextures="0"

This turns of the texture checking that is kicking your clients for having basically any skins, textures, and reticles.

As a whole, it's better if turned off, simply so that people can use the custom effects, skins, weapon skins, colored HUDs, etc that they've been using for a long time.

So hurry, as a general rule, server admins need to turn off CRC checking.

Hope this doesn't mean we can't use mortar reticles. Man, I love my mortacle!

We need to get this straightened out by our next match. We don't want to be having problems getting into servers or kicking players from ours.

please look for email i just sent regarding the new patch, i had to install it in order to play, downloaded AK skins, choose custom skins, and am able to run with the skins with the new patch, and was able to see all other skins players had in the game.

The CRC Texture thing has to be turned on to meet with TWL rules.

I'm just wondering if this breaks the mortar reticle we use. It would SUCK if it did. We fatties have come to depend on it.

I can't get into tribes at all unless I patch. Are we therefore "off" for practice tonite or is there some command line thingie we can use?

Well I just signed on and it did the auto update for me. Doesn't look like many servers have updated as of yet
