Alot of people are "upset" with Apple for pushing Safari through on the Apple updater - but I'm glad they did because I probably wouldn't have tried it again because the Windows BETA was so horrible. The new version works flawlessly and is very quite fast. I'm not sure if it's good enough for me to switch from Firefox, alot will depend on the final 3.0 release soon - but Safari is definitely something everyone should give a run to try out. I like it quite a bit.

I was somewhat skeptical of Safari having tried it on my Windows machine previously and also on one of Squid's old macs when visiting. I fully intended it to suck and to install Firefox on my new Mac Pro. However, I was really pleasantly surprised with Safari - the speed is just amazing especially when opening up multiple tabs at the same time. Really blows both IE and Firefox away. It's now my browser of choice.

The Windows version has had issues, but it's getting better.

On the Mac, it's the only browser I use.

Safari works great on the Mac platform. Once I found a AdBlock plug in for it, I no longer felt the need to have to use Firefox any longer.

I'm having trouble importing bookmarks on Safari for Windows. They refuse to show up under the bookmarks tab. It is quite speedy though.

There's one thing in Safari that I miss from Firefox. In Firefox next to the "Back One Page" arrow there is a little "down" icon that when clicked will show you the last 10 or so pages you have hit. You can then select the one you want from the list. This is great for going back three or four pages without having to click the back arrow 3 or 4 times.

Any way to do this in Safari? You can access the history in Safari but I believe that just lists the main sites and not the individual links within those sites that you have been clicking.

Any ideas?

I have the AdBlock plugin installed on Firefox--is there any way to duplicate that in Safari? I'd love to jump over to a browser with built-in RSS capabilities.

There's no special icon, but I believe if you either hover your mouse or hold down on the arrow, the back arrow list pops up. I'm not on my machine so I can't test.

One thing, I've discovered Flash is basically a spam tool for the most part. So I didn't install it on Safari. The few times I really want it, I'll launch Explorer. Is there a way I can tell Safari to stop asking me to go to the MarcoMedia flash player to download this plugin? The nag pop-up from Safari is pretty annoying.

If you're doing development, particularly on a Mac, it's hard to beat WebKit, the engine used by Safari and Chrome. Its built-in dev tools are comparable to Firebug in Firefox, but with a better interface. As of last month, WebKit with SquirrelFish (its blazing fast new JavaScript VM) is the only browser engine that perfectly passes the Acid3 test (meaning it's 100% standards-compliant). Presto (Opera's engine) is extremely close (99/100), but Opera still sucks. The current release of Safari scores a 75. IE 7 scores a 14.

After some research, it sounds like what I'm looking for is something called "flashblock", which is an add-in. Rather than allowing Flash items to automatically start, it replaces that section of the webpage with a play button, so that the Flash item will only begin playing at your discretion. Unfortunately, as best I can tell this is only made for FireFox. Anyone aware of anything similar for Safari?
