Forced to get a new phone any ideas

Because Clay is getting the iphone we are switching carriers.

I'll need a new phone as well.

Here is what I am looking for,

    1) EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY- I have hearing loss and when I can't read lips I need the sound to come across clearly so I can fill in the gaps.

    2) EXCELLENT RECEPTION- I need something that will get reception in my house. (This may sound silly but Clay's current cell phone doesn't do this well.)

    3) EXCELLENT BATTERY LIFE- I am a total dork when it comes to recharging so if the phone can't last a week on standby in my bag I don't want it.

    4) I want it to look grown up!- The representative showed me a hot pink plastic sony phone when I started listing my requirements. I don't want to look like a teenager when I pull out my phone.

    5) Oh yeah durable would be nice. I'm a huge dropper, trip and fall type so um yeah!!!

Everything else is just bells and whistles. I text like twice a year. I surf the net on my itouch when wi/fi is available and use my touch for music.I have had my current phone for several years and not ever taken a picture with it so that's not important.

I don't think I'll be getting a dataplan or anything with my part of the phone contract so simple is fine.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Well I'm not sure which phone options you will have with your new carrier, but I for one have been a firm buyer of the Samsung slider-type phones. I prefer the slider to a flip-phone due to durability issues - my past flips have always broken eventually, or a wire inbetween the 2 pieces has shorted, or something crazy. I also don't like the small one piece type phones where the keys show because I tend to throw the phone into my purse or booksack or whatever, and they keys end up getting funky with purse lint, pushed at innopurtune times, or generally messed up. The slider phone protects the keys, and also slides out to make it a bit longer (ie. the mouth mic is closer to my mouth).

This is the phone I currently have...I'm on the second generation model, I think there is an even newer one out.

Blackberry Curve, or the Blackberry Bold when it comes out (which should be soon if not already). Unless you're just looking for Phone is a Phone variety, then I got no clue.

I love my LG Rumor. It's got GREAT sound quality, and as an LG it's highly durable.

Plus, if you text message, it has a querty keyboard that slides out of the side.

It has a slot for a card, so you can put MP3s on it, it comes in a SEXY black w/ blue trim, and is very lightweight and sleek.

The only downside I've had so far is it takes crappy photos compared to Phena's Katana.

Ugh.. just discovered today why I'm missing calls on my cell phone - the external speaker isn't working! I kept missing calls and figured I just didn't hear it or something but I went to use speakerphone and nothing. While playing around I see the screen say that my wife is calling. No ringing, nothing. Going to play around a little with it but looks like a new phone is in the works for me also - although I have another 3 months before my $100 credit from Verizon towards a new phone.
