I pretty much did a land-based version of this job for 10 years. What kind of pay grade is "19" (not that I'm going to apply or anything, just curious as to what they're getting for this sort of thing out there.)

entry level... maybe around 60 or so. Plus awesome 401k/profit sharing/pension/benefits. Plus of course the honor and coolness of working with me. Shit, what more do you need?

When you go to Nigeria, they pick you up at the airport in an armored van with two jeeps (one up front, one in back) both with .50 cals. Very cool.

If this position isn't filled by December, talk to me. I'm going to be on the lookout for opportunities outside of academia into the private sector sometime in 2009, and while I have a couple of places I'd prefer to live (my closest friends live in Washington DC and Houston), in the end, the biggest influence on my decision will likely be who offers me the biggest sack of money.
