    router

    i know this is probably the wrong forum to post in but need all techies help here, bought a cable router-firewall, and being that im not real sure how to setup a good firewall, can someone try to find a weakness in my router 192.168.1.1, basically i want to see if people can send me unwanted packets. its a linksys etherfast cable\dsl router so if anyone has experience in this please post.

    This is probably better in the Tech forum, but that IP address isn't something that we'll be able to test.

    Why don't you start off by describing your desired network?
    How many machines do you want to hook to this thing, and what type of OS(s) are you using?

    sorry its in the wrong forum,

    i run win2k server, my wife win ME, basically i bought the router for firewall purposes, no network really, we have two machines (active) we both have our own ip assigned by our ISP, i configured the router to let us out on the net and get email, but what i want to do is set it up like zone alarm, kind block incoming traffic if not wanted.

    we have a cable modem (rj45 jack) hooked to wan port of router, then just cat5 cable from router to each machine( patch cable) i guess i want to set up router to block the same as software firewalls do. just dont know where to start.
