    L4D2 - Pre-Order

How many people paid for the pre-order on steam of L4D2?

I just purchased mine last evening - beta/demo available on Tuesday.

Already with "2"? Seems kind of soon for a sequel.

I dunno, I played the crap out of the first one, did most all of the achievements and havnt really touched it for 2-3 months.

Ill probably grab this one but i dont really plan on it any time soon, Should be fun enough to see the new zones and mobs they have to offer.

Are there new mobs? From watching the trailers, the thing that made me hesitate is that it looked like the *exact* same game, just in a different city. Any word on what the sequel will actually bring to the table other than new zones?

I loved L4D, but they didn't deliver on the number of additional maps, user developed material, etc.

That said, L4D was one of the best games released in recent history and I'm sure L4D2 will be the same. Should it be 2.0 or a $9.99 or $19.99 add-on? Who knows.. you can debate that until you are blue in the face.

    What is new in L4D2:

    • Over 20 new weapons & items headlined by over 10 melee weapons – axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat – allow you to get up close with the zombies
    • New survivors. New story. New dialogue.
    • Five expansive campaigns for co-operative, Versus and Survival game modes.
    • An all new multiplayer mode.
    • Uncommon common infected. Each of the five new campaigns contains at least one new "uncommon common" zombies which are exclusive to that campaign.
    • AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed “The AI Director” drove L4D’s unique gameplay – customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players’ performance. L4D 2 features “The AI Director 2.0” which expands the Director’s ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.

Borderlands looks interesting, and it unlocks today for the PC.

It's in New Orleans. I thought you would be all over it for that reason alone.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.

I am pretty excited about the new setting...I think New Orleans is a perfect setting for anything spooky.

Thanks for the info Hy, that makes me feel a lot better about the game. I had a lot of fun playing L4D, but found it got repetitive very quickly. It seems like they are addressing some of these issues by offering new things to keep it interesting.

I may not pre-order, but I will most likely pick this up if other AK will be playing.

Yes, it's largely more of the same. Yes, they should have made it an expansion pack. And yes, I will be buying it.

I was playing the L4D2 demo last night for about 45 minutes. A few observations:

    1) This probably does not deserve to be labeled a "2", I don't think it's that great an update. Yes, it's an improvement and yes, they added quite a bit of content, new scenarios, etc. - but it's still L4D.

    2) I LOVE L4D in general, so I would pay the $45 anyways for the new content

    3) It seems the graphics and details are 'smoother' and even seem to run a bit better on my machine.

    4) Although only 2 maps in the demo that I played, The games did seem to 'flow' very well and I'm enjoying the new melee weapons alot. However, in order to use a melee weapon (Bat, crowbar, night stick, frying pan, etc) you do give up your pistol.

    5) I think the new infected are a nice addition to the game and the new weapons are pretty cool which adds a new dynamic to the game play. I like the "slime" on the ground and if you stand in it, it hits your health.

I understand that melee weapons... they wanted to bring the fight closer to the player.

Anyone know the breakdown on the weps? I couldn't figure out the distance between some of them.
