    Need books!

    OK,

Going to be on vacation for about 2 weeks so I need about 20 new books for the vacation. I know this sounds like too many but I went through 10 in January and was only on vacation a week.

Last time I asked here, I got alot of great reads.

So if anyone has a series or a great book they've read let me know!

Oh I read anything that's printed so non-fiction, fiction, action, sci-fi, fantasy, romance.... pretty much anything.

I second 'The Terror'. Great Book. I tried 'Drood'... but my head hurt after the first chapter.

Easy reading: "Day by Day Armageddon." by J.L. Bourne. Very popular zombie novel with Book 2 coming out soon.

"The Descent" by Jeff Long. Humanoid civilization living subsurface have been discovered... and they're not happy.

"Year Zero" by Jeff Long. Scientists attempt to clone Jesus and release a plague.

    Anything by James Rollins

Alexander Dumas "Count of Monte Cristo"

"Necroscope" by Brian Lumley. Starts a true Vampire storyline that extends across 8+ novels.

"Have a Nice Day" by Mick Folley. Good read even if you're not a fan of WWF.

"Fragment" by Warren Fahy. New author.. not bad. Island of unchecked evolutionary mayhem. Easy read.

    The complete Harry Dresden series.

Robert Crais's books -- great detective novels.

S.M. Stirling's two parallel series -- one begins with Island in the Sea of Time and the other begins with "Dies the Fire."

    Thanks!

I read the Dresden series over my conference stints this year, but I haven't heard of most of the other books.

The Count of Monte Cristo might be totally appropriate since we'll be in Europe, does anyone have a Spanish author they like. I had one that I loved but now I can't remember his name and I've given away all his books that I had.

I'll have to see what is available via Kindle.

    Keep em coming!!

I haven't read a book sense i read the R.A. Salvatore series. Good thing is, if you haven't read it yet, it is about 15 or more books long.

I haven't read it yet, but I just saw today that Anthony Bourdain has a new book out. If you're at all into cooking or food, his books are must-reads.

Bah, you only need one book: a complete Shakespeare of some variety (the Riverside is probably the best, but I really like the notes and definitions in the Norton, which is based on the Oxford). Don't be afraid; Shakespeare is richly rewarding and well worth it. In fact, if I could only have two books on a desert island, one would be a complete Shakespeare. If I could have three, they'd be the Bible, a complete Shakespeare, and the Divine Comedy of Dante (the Mandelbaum translation is my favorite). If you should die before you've ready all of these, you'll have missed out on the greatest and most profound literary works of man (and God, as it were). There's no time like the present!

I just joined Audible.com, don't have enough time to read full books very often - but I can listen to them during the 1.5 - 2 hrs of commuting each day.

    Palooka,

I am a bit spoiled about Shakespeare, I grew up in a home that had the complete works. It was a well worn copy by the time I graduated. Especially since I am a poetry buff. It's been years though.

Also had the complete works of alot of other authors, the one I remember is Poe. I mean Steven King's ok and all but DAMN Poe creeped me out and gave me nightmares for years!

It looks like I have a couple of new series to look into! This is awesome.
