    Blogs, news, etc

Where do you go for information and commentary? I find the television networks to be "slightly inadequate".

Tough to find a satisfactory news source these days. If you do get all your news from one source/one side, you're getting a very incomplete story.

For the most part, I avoid mainstream news. Most of the priority stories are about attractive white people who behave stupidly in a mostly personal matter, and end up with some skewed justice one way or another. Stories that just piss you off, without actually providing pertinent information on matters that will affect my life. So I just avoid it.

So I avoid FOX news like the plague, as well as ABCBSNBCMSNBLahBlah.

Most of my right wing news comes from:
DrudgeReport (which is loosing a lot of cool points for me, most of their links are to aggressive spam sites, and sensationalism focused) I'm going there less.
www.ar15.com/forums (VERY right wing, with some knuckle dragging, but also some very intelligent sparks in there too. With a focus on cool gun stuff. A male dominated right wing hang out - my people!)
The O'Reilly Factor - yea yea, he's on FOX, and he's painfully arrogant (beyond his capabilities), but he does offer more intelligent commentary for the Right than most.

    Left Wing news comes from:
The John Stewart Show. In my opinion, one of the most intelligent commentators out there, and funny too. But sometimes he goes pretty retard left. The thing I like about him though, is he's willing to have intelligent respectful discussion, and regularly brings right-wingers on his show - if they'll come. If I were to have a celebrity dinner party - this guy is invited.
The Corbert Report - mostly, this guy is a less interesting wannabe who just happens to come on after Stewart.
Any other mainstream media source (other than FOX) that I unwilling happen to be forced to watch.

The tough part is the Right Wingers basically just aren't as good at the communication arts as Left Wingers. It's a right brain/left brain thing I guess.

Basically - best answer I've seen:
O'Reilly factor then followed by John Stewart on the same day - is a nice balance.

Sometimes PBS can surprise you too. I like the McNeil/Lehre show.

I have a huge Google Reader list of RSS feeds that I read every day as time permits. This covers everything from Business to Sports to Technology to Firearms to Sim Racing to Gaming to News (local, national, political) to Individual Blogs.

I almost never watch television news unless it's during an election or a 'crisis' situation of some sort. Believe it or not, I usually turn to CNN first to get the gist and then hit my normal sources for more objective information. I do have FoxNews.com in my RSS feed to glance the headlines, but I've always disliked their website layout and found it troublesome. I cannot stand to listen to Hannity, so I can imagine how Liberals must feel. I do glance Drudge every so often and I like Breitbart as well. http://www.breitbart.com/

Business Insider is horrible in terms of headline bait and op-eds, but sort of like Twitter, it's a great place to go to get the heads up with what's currently going on quickly, and then go somewhere else to get more valid details. http://www.businessinsider.com

A few of my favorites "blogs" are:

    PowerLine Blog - http://www.powerlineblog.com
    The Firearm Blog - http://www.thefirearmblog.com
The Truth About Guns - http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com

As far as Firearms forums, I spend most of my time on RugerForum.net. I do read the Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association Discussion Forum, but don't actively participate in discussions there much. I also started the Ruger Owner's community on Google+ and have some pretty solid discussions with the members who have joined. Just closing in on 100 members though.

    I doubt that.

I consider myself pretty conservative, especially when it comes to the size and impact of the government and fiscal matters. However, I'm more of a centrist when it comes to "social" issues for the most part.

However, it's times like these and events like these that tend to push me to the right even further as we continue to lose our individual liberties one small, and sometimes large, piece at a time.

I like CNBC Squawk Box in the morning. More actual news than any of the "big 3" cable networks, and it's focused on the business/economic impact, which is what I mostly care about in the news anyway. I read VodkaPundit's blog every morning, and as time allows, I check CNN and Fox, along with Drudge for the conservative perspective and Reddit's news and politics for the (usually-extreme-)liberal perspective.

When Fox News reported that solar won't work in America likes it does in Germany because Germany gets more sun... you know that they are idiots.

"What was Germany doing correct? Are they just a smaller country, and that made it more feasible?" host GretchenCarlson asked.

Fox Business reporter Shiban Joshi's jaw-dropping response: "They're a smaller country, and they've got lots of sun. Right? They've got a lot more sun than we do." In case that wasn't clear enough for some viewers, Joshi went on: "The problem is it's a cloudy day and it's raining, you're not gonna have it." Sure, California might get sun now and then, Joshi conceded, "but here on the East Coast, it's just not going to work."

Mostly... and get this.... I use fark.com All user submitted from across the board. It's primarily a news aggregate known for humorous headlines and highlighting the quality of what makes 'news' today. However, because of the shear bulk of submission, you end up getting a good idea about what's going on. Plus, exposure to alternative points of view helps build a more balanced opinion. I found that I was focusing on only one slant from my news sources, so I've been trying to mix it up.

I subscribe... as a Total Farker, you get discussion boards and access to every submitted article, not just those that are 'green lit'.

I also use slashdot.org; littlegreenfootballs; michellemalkin; drudgereport and I have ZITE filter out interesting stories for me as well on the old iPad.

I read www.nbcnews.com to get my blood pressure up in the morning, then switch over to The Drudge Report for more balanced coverage. I'm very conservative, but the shrill idiocy of Fox News completely turns me off.

I used to read LittleGreenFootballs.com for news links, but it switched over to being a fawning apologist site for Obama several years ago -- and strictly devoted to attacking the religious right and Israel rather than opposing the unfriendlies in our midst. I think Charles had some sort of mental breakdown.

I do not have any form of cable/satellite at my house, so I completely miss out on the high quality of television news these days -- If I can't read about it, I don't hear about it. There's nothing worse than waiting for some idiot to tease the news and read off a teleprompter when I could already have gleaned the facts from that story and read three more.

    SHTFSchool.com

"Selco" is a survivor of the Balkans. Legitimate? Unsure, he is selling a product, but it is entertaining and something to think about.
