    Smile Tribes2 Newbie Here

    Howdy!

I've been playing Tribes 2 for a month or two, and I'd like to get into a more organized environment then the average public server. I saw your recruiting thread on PT and thought I'd sign up.

I'm a pretty decent turret farmer, bomber pilot, spotter, bombardier, repair guy. All the low skill positions. I usually do better on D then O. I like running around with a shocklance, but I'm probably no better then average at best. I also cap the occasional flag. If you'd like more info, let me know.

My comp time is limited due to a variety of reasons. I won't be able to make every scheduled event, and I may miss some on short notice, but hopefully that will be kept to a minimum. I have no problem being on the 'B' or practice team, as I play for fun.

If you'd like to know anything, plz let me know.

    Welcome, Hale.

Turret farming isn't a low-skill duty the way we do it...

We have a match this Wednesday, so our next practice is Sunday Night at 9pm.
Hopefully you can make that one. If not, post here and let us know.

I'll email you the server name and password.

Welcome Hale. Check out our server on a regular basis. You'll usually find one or two of us on at night practicing. Also, if you add us to your buddy list you can track us down while we are pubbing.

Did you really just type "Disc ya later..."?

    Question

Thanks for the game yesterday. Advice is appreciated.

What add ons should I download for T2? At this time I've downloaded nothing. I've also heard that certain downloads are not compatible. Should I download the tricon files? PJ's scripts? Something else?

    Thanks!

Don't bother with Tricon. That's admin stuff. PJ's is fine, but I find them to be overkill.

    Personal preference, etc.

On Sunday you'll work with Bribo... be his shadow.

Sorry I couldn't make it last night. My cable modem was, and as far as I know, still is, on the fritz. Every time it rains hard my connection goes out.

    Latest newbie question:

What do I need for to play base++? I've played pretty much only base to date. I'm assuming I will need to download client files from somwhere.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

    Hale,

This is a total server-side mod. You don't need anything on the client side. Base++ is basically server side modificatoins to environmental settings (gravity, skiing, weapons, armor, vehicles, etc.) that make Tribes 2 behave more like the original Tribes from a playability stand point.

Try hopping onto a Base++ pub server and check it out. See if you can "feel" the differences.

    Thanks.

I've been on some servers that have deployable base turrets, force fields, blast walls, etc. I didn't seem to have access to those items, and I thought that was base++, but I guess I was mistaken.

I'll try to check out the new server tonight.

Those are called renegades and there are some other mods. Any base style mod just has the three styles of armor and the basic weapon. The changes are like Bribo said, just the speed and gravity and things such as that.

There's a couple of other changes... teleporter to the MPB, swappable turrets on the MPB, etc... but again, nothing that would require the installation of something to your local PC.
