    Forums you browse

I'm just wondering if any of you post in other forums (not necessarily clan forums, just forums in general). I post in Gamespy Forums and 3DAP Forums and go by the name GaSher. I was just wondering.

Sometimes I head over to tribalwar to see what those morons have posted, but I never post... I only do this when I am extremely bored. I do post on filepile.org but that's not quite a forum... a little different.

Seahawks newsgroup (Where I met Squidly and know Sonic Boom as well)

    alt.os.linux.mandrake
    Anandtech.com forums
    Mad Onion forums
    AMDmb.com forums

I post quite regularly on gamespy but it's seldom about games. I go to the Lobby (general discussion area) and post about stuff there. Right now I'm in the middle of debating physical punishment on children and the posts are getting quite lengthy.

Anybody who thinks spanking is bad should read Starship Troopers.

    Allow me to quote:

"...the time tested method of instilling social virtue and respect for law in the minds of the young did not appeal to a pre-scientific pseudo-professional class who called themselves 'social workers' or sometimes 'child psychologists'. It was too simple for them, apparently, since anybody could do it, using only patience and firmness needed in training a puppy. I have sometime wondered if they cherished a vested interest in disorder -- but that is unlikely; almost always act from the conscious 'highest motives' no matter what their behavior."

And you thought it was just about killing bugs.

Edicts from on-high... Joy of joys... Without opening a huge can of worms, spanking has been proven to be largely unnecessary in disciplining children by more studies than I can think of... Additionally, parents who do spank have a CONSIDERABLY lower average IQ than those who do not. This is believed to be because parents with low IQs are not equipped to deal with reasoning and speaking intelligently to youngsters. In years past it was just thought to be necessary to spank children, but the past 20 years of increased enlightenment have proven that's not the case. Parents who spank mostly do so to regain control of a situation that they lost all grip upon. I suppose the reasoning is that physical punishment is one area where parents have a complete advantage due to size/weight/etc. Lastly, physical punishment breeds only one thing: fear. Unfortunately, it's not fear of doing wrong; instead, it's fear of being caught. For some kids the two are the same, so the parents win the power struggle. For most others, however, it only teaches children to be sneakier. If there are no parents around, it's okay if they do the wrong thing they are considering. Only children who truly understand the difference between right and wrong and choose the right because it is the right thing to do are the only ones to be trusted as children AND adults.

If you could speak to children intelligently they wouldn't be children. Notice how today, after all this "enlightenment" about no 'spanking' or discipline, and 'discussing' with the kids that we have a nation full of children with no concept of personal responsibility or respect for any authority? LIBERAL WUSSISM®

Lets end this thread topic, agree to disagree, and forget about it as it can only get ugly.
