It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's pretty fun. I just started playing a couple of days ago.

I had never played until about a year ago when all my fellow Fleet guys introduced me to it. It is a great small unit tactics game. Very fast rounds. Very addictive.

There are a ton of people around the world who play it. In fact, it may be the largest worldwide on-line FPS game. It's actually a mod to a game called Half LIfe which many of you have probably played or heard of.

I know all about counter strike, but I just never got into it. Played half life and was even in my first clan with that game for DM, but then I fell into the evil pit known as Ultima Online. That sucked a year out of my life. I have promised myself never to get that sucked into a game again.

I use to play CS quite a bit but then got sick and tired of all the hacks and cheating out there. Even with Punkbusters it was still very bad.

Steam is a pretty interesting concept though.

I played CS from the first beta on pretty regularly for a long time. It's a great mod to a great game. Nothing since Half-Life has managed to feel . . . well, as right. I haven't played it in sometime, but I'd love to get back into it to school some of you newbie sissies. 1.6 looks pretty damned cool with the riot shields and new weapons.

I used to love counterstrike. But the cheats got way out of hand and I dropped it. I wouldn't mind sitting down for a game or two now and then but I'd have to dig out my old half life CD then download all the mod stuff (no longer have a cable connection so it would take a bit of time). Top off the fact that IDX, the company I work for, is moving into our new Seattle building this month and that has taken most of my time. In fact I don't get a day off for a couple weeks now, this weekend is going to be hell as we are scheduled to come in at 7am Saturday and Sunday and work till.... whenever, expect a minimum of 12 hour days they say (oh, and no comp time, no overtime, but they MIGHT pay for our parking on the weekend).

But I digress, I thought CS was the best mod ever made for a game and one of the best multiplayer shooters available for a long time. Hell, I even loved Day of Defeat and still think it was more fun than Medal of Honor. Either mod was better than halflife was multiplayer. Halflife was a fantastic single player game but the multiplayer felt very tacked on. Team Fortress for Halflife I also thought was a joke, but that is just an opinion.

A bunch of us are getting together face to face to play Counterstrike and some other games in early February. I'll post the incriminating photos of Bribo, Gunny, Stitch, Choozoo, myself and the strippers shortly thereafter.

By the way, I might be a bit late tonite... wife's class ends at 10pm (I thought she said "home by 10pm").
