And now for something COMPLETELY non-game related.

I have been enjoying my two latest pistol purchases ... a stainless Beretta 92FS in 9mm and a CZ-52 in 7.62X25. My fiance and I went to the range again this weekend, and she outshot me, again, with both my guns. She has her own .357 magnum ... but also likes the semi-auto pistols.

The 92FS is very smooth ... one of the most enjoyable pistols I have ever shot, and definitely the nicest double-action semi-auto I have tried.

So, any of you (relatively) new folks gun aficionados? I have been out of circulation for a while.

I don't think private citizens should own guns. How's that for stirring up debate?

Why does everyone have to stick the Politics Penis into most every discussion. I think Hale is just trying to flex his debate muscles like he does his driving skillz.

I'll toss my hat in the ring on this matter. I feel that everyone should be able to carry a handgun. I feel things should be more like the Wild West instead of this modern day pussy foot society. So what, there would be more deaths. I have one comment on that "Population Control" There are far too many ways for life to be extended, our planet is becoming over run with some dregs that do not deserve to live. However with laws and other such activist BS were stuck with far too many people that may or may not deserve to be here.
To turn it back around at myself, I could very well be one of those people who don't deserve to still be breathing but with the way things are, we would never know.

I hope that give's a two sided coin view on the matter hopefully

Thanks for opening the worm can Hale! You Rock!

    Hale,

If you truly believe that, then our views are too far apart to even bother arguing. But you might want to seek out a country which does not have anything equivalent to the Second Amendment ... like freedom-loving China, Cuba, or North Korea. Or, if you prefer your oppression in a milder form ... there are other alternatives, mostly the semi-(or outright) socialist European nations.

For me, guns are a hobby, and a means of self defense. I enjoy going to the range on the weekend and honing my marksmanship. Most firearms are beautiful machines, finely crafted to exacting specifications, and they often have a lot of history. I have a rifle from each World War - a 1917 Enfield from World War I and an M1 Garand from World War II. (And where the heck is the Garand in Battlefield 1942, anyway? BARs were squad weapons!)

Guns can also serve a useful purpose, in the hands of law-abiding citizens. If Steph and I are home at night and some idiot breaks into our house ... well - the Texas judicial system is quick, but a trial by Darwin and a Smith & Wesson is quicker. We'd have to flip a coin to see who gets cleanup duties.

    That's my $0.02. :-)

    Two things:

    1) Gun control laws only affect law abiding citizens anyways, some crackhead probably doesn't own a legal gun and even if he does he doesn't care about the laws.

2)They don't need new gun control laws they just need to enforce the existing ones.

Abaddon my dad has an m1 garand also, he used to be a gun collector at one point he had over 400 then he sold most of them off when my parents got divorced but he probably still has a couple dozen. I go down to my brothers house he has a little over 100 acres and we set up a nice range in a shale pit in the side of the mountain. He has to AR15's one preban one post ban but both are very nice.

In my mind, if you directly threaten my life or those of my family's, you automatically forfeit your right to your own.

Also, by definition, an inanimate object can neither be good nor evil.

From the moment an intruder crosses the threshold of my home with intent to do harm (whether by assault or theft) his life is forfeit.

That's the choice he made. A burglar has to be a little crazy to break into a potentially-occupied home in Texas, so I'd operate on the assumption that he's armed and dangerous, probably either hopped up on or jonesing for his drug of choice.

If you shoot someone after they break into your home, make sure you finish the job. Don't leave them around to sue you.

And as for Michael Moore ... the guy's a flake.

I saw "Roger and Me" or whatever his GM movie was. He's obviously got an eye for the limelight and suffers from an extreme case of liberalism. Any journalist with a bit of skill can portray his victims (interviewees) in an unflattering light.

I haven't seen that movie yet, but what I was referring to, which I am sure you already know is his current film which focuses on guns in America.

The second amendment deals with ability of States and other non-Federal organiziations to organize armed Militias. For example, I don't see anywhere where the Consititution says that high school students can gun down other students with legally obtained firearms, but I guess they're protected by the Constitution somewhere.

I'd also hazard to guess that some of the Columbine vicitims families were gun owners, but owning a gun didn't seem to help them in that situation. How often do you hear about some wacko taking out their whole family with a gun? Too frequently.

Personally, I'd like to collect nuclear weapons. I feel they are are beautiful machines, finely crafted to exacting specifications, and they often have a lot of history, but unfortunately the Constitution doesn't say anything about that. Obviously its an oversight. I've got to call my senator and get moving on this!
