I picked up a Chaintech 4600 at newegg.com for $199. The reseller and card were highly rated and the price is among the lowest I've seen. I looked at the 9700, but thats a good $100 more.
Just finished upgrading my power supply to handle the additional load. Much easier then I thought.
Got and installed it.
Had a little instability at first while running 3D Mark, but an update to my VIA 4n1 drivers seem to have fixed that (I hope).
I'm only running about 6000 (3D Mark 2001) now, but I haven't changed any of my settings yet. Still almost three times as fast as before.

I went with a PNY Ti4800 8xAGP on my new system. Been extremely stable so far and I'm getting an even 13000 on 3DMark2001.

Nvidia's specs on the 4600 and 4800 are the same. What's the difference between the two chipsets?
