    Planetside bystanders

Who are the bystanders? Slaughter, Stitch, and Gunny?

If you guys had doubts if this game would be any fun, let me tell you to put them to rest! It's a blast and there is enough variety for anyone in terms of roles you play, etc. It's actually like a combination of Tribes 2 and WWIIO.

    My WWIIO Account is cancelled.

Hell, I'll chip in to buy one copy of the game for one of you if you promise to pay for at least a 3-month subscription.

Start up the AK collection fund!

Sorry, I participated in the beta... it sparked my interest the first weekend where I played almost non-stop.. after that I realized it was pretty much the same thing, over and over and over.

Firmly standing beside my decision to not get this game.

I hear Stitch is buying it this weekend. I've lured him by telling him we miss his 733t MAX skillz.

Don't forget The Beast!!!! He'd be a medic.

I'm willing to chip in to get copies for our less fortunate breathern. We could get Sally Struthers to do a commercial.

I have a $20 gift card that I would be willing to donate to the StitchJones fund. Why? Because America needs to find a cure.

Sorry, guys, but that whole "$50 for the first month, $13 for each additional month" thing is a tough pill to swallow. If it were fifty bucks for the first year, or even the first six months, I'd consider it, but I just don't have that kind of room in my budget. I just kicked out $40 for Raven Shield, and $20 for Road to Rome, both in the last three months, and I'm going to get my money's worth out of those first.

You play EverQuest, and you are talking about Planetside being the same thing, over and over and over???

Forget buying and sending you Planetside, I need to send you a clue!

The reason I like Planetside is that I know there is a real person connected to that MAX I just killed. There's a certain thrill knowing your killing "real" people and thinking about that dissatisfied look on their face at home when I drill 6 rockets in their ass.

I played DAoC for about 6 months and found the whole monster hunt, quest thing got boring as hell. BTW, who wants to go on quests that everyone else has already gone on? Example: if I just retrieved the Sword of Doom from the Dragon's Lair and returned it to the King, then shouldn't that quest be done and unavailable to everyone else. The king has his friggin' sword back already! I think these monster hunt games would be a lot more interesting if they had a staff of writers and DMs that constantly changed and shifted the stories and events in the world. So that every time you logged on you have a unique experience. You could say the same for PLanetside I suppose.

Every battle is unique in subtle ways, because there are humans involved.

Still, I wish they had made a human playable alien race (like "Natural Selection")...that would've made this game unbelievably great. Can you imagine attempting to cleanse your continent of an alien infestation? With some artwork changes, this stuff would be unbelievably easy to add. I hope they do it.

In the meantime, it sounds like we'll be getting new vehicles, weapons, and squad-contests soon.

Do you think something along the lines of inventory availability (dare I say, like WWIIO) where it limits the numbers of each vehcile type per location to some number? Say like there are 10 wraiths, and 2 deliverer, and 2 marauder, etc etc at each base of origin (generation) and when they are destroyed, or disappear - abandoned, they go back into the pool after some amount of time.

I don't know, I was just thinking of some kind of 'penalty' for dying so you can't just regenerate, run back down and get a new vehicle, and rinse & repeat. There should be some kind of penalty for dying.

    Just a thought.

That would be alot of fun... buy a vehicle cert but never get to use it because some yahoo refuses to die. If it makes you feel better, you can't just run back and buy another vehicle. There's a delay before you can purchase again.

Deaths should be reflected in statistics somehow, and they should generate an overall player rating (kills, captures, repairs, healing, deaths, all factored in.)
