    New Controllers

Thought I would post a pic of my new controllers for sim racing. It's a Logitech MOMO Force wheel and a set of ECCI E-3000 Pedals. I sold my TSW2 Modified wheel on EBAY for $300, so it just about covered the cost of these. $114.00 for the Logitech (including shipping) from newegg.com and $209.00 for the pedal set from ECCI.net.

Sweet looking set, Hy...I'm not too familiar with wheel/pedal setups. I see a traditional gas/brake duo on the right...I'm guessing the larger pedals on the left are left/right rudder pedals, with the rightmost rudder pedal pulling double duty as a clutch pedal for driving games that have that degree of realism?

    Beast,

Actually... those are 2 sets of pedals. The ones on the right that say MOMO actually came with the Logitech MOMO wheel. They are OK, actually better than I thought as I heard they were horrible but they aren't that bad. Because of the way the Logitech is designed, I have to keep the MOMO pedals connected because the power unit runs through it. BTW - that is real leather on the MOMO wheel. The set in the middle are the ECCI pedals that I bought. ECCI is known for their "industrial" strength driving contollers. They use to sell a wheel / pedal combo that sold for $1,500.00 but they stopped selling to consumers and only commercial. But just recently they began selling the pedals only for various wheels (Microsoft Wheel, a few Logitech Wheels, and for Thrustmasters). However they are announcing they are re-entering the consumer market soon with a sub-$1,000 set. Their equipment is extremely high quality and you never have to worry about breaking it. Their are no bungees for tension in the wheels and their pedal spring mechanism is very sturdy.

The ECCI pedals come with adjustability as well as you can adjust the pressure need for the brake and gas pedal.

Funny thing is I use to rib ECCI for their 1949 Ford Tractor Pedal set and when I called to order, the guy asked my name and he says: "Well that is definitely a very familiar name. Are you the same Scott Husted who has been in sim racing since about 95?". LOL - I said yeah I am and he goes, I finally get to talk to the legend. ROFLMAO It was nice of him to still sell me the pedals after the criticism of design I use to give. The reason I bought them is the angle of the pedals, etc work extremely well for the way I drive at a desk in a high back reclining executive chair.

Here is a picture of the wheel / pedals I just sold:

That setup cost me about $450 new. The reason I sold it is it is not ForceFeedback and I could never get comfortable with the wheel itself and the way the pedals are angled, my calves would cramp up on long races. Notice that the pedals are a little more "traditional" with the 3 pedal design, etc. But to be honest, in sim racing very few sims allow for good use of the clutch. Most of the sims have auto clutching and you just have to 'blip' the throttle for matching the RPM and not blowing the engine. But if you want to get really into the "driving" aspect, you have to get one of these:

ACT-LABS USB Shifter. You can get different plates for shift patterns as well. IE - 4 speed, 5 speed, 6 speed, etc.
