    outlook express newsgroups

i subscribe to four newsgroups, and overall, oe does a good job of loading those newsgroups fast.

but, one newsgroup has over 40,000 posts in the archive (or so i read from the total), and oe takes a while to switch from this problematic group to another or close the program from this newsgroup. i clocked it today to take fourty-five seconds.

any advice on how to shorten this time, or eliminate it? without suggesting use a web-based reader, please.

    thanks in advance,
    wolff

I don't read the newsgroups as much as I used to, but I always liked using Netscape Messenger as a reader. I always thought it ran head and shoulders faster than anything Microsoft offered. Don't get Netscape 6, though, stick with 4.75 or 4.77 or whatever 4 version they're out with now. I've heard nothing but bad things about Netscape 6.

i solved the problem, and thanks for your help, beast.

nn6 is supposedly worse than nn4. sure it looks good and everything, but the smallest things that make websites great are broke!
