Thinking about upgrades...

My 1.1Ghz Athlon is feeling a bit pokey on the "hot new games", so I'm thinking about upgrading. It's currently running with 896 MB of PC133 RAM. I could just upgrade the processor to an Athlon XP 2400+ for about $75, or I could get a new NForce2 mobo/Athlon XP 2500 combo for $150. The downside is I'd also have to buy new RAM, with 512 MB for an additional $70 about breaking my budget (not to mention having to buy a new heatsink and fan for the new processor). Would I see more value from the lower amount but faster RAM, or should I just upgrade the processor now, sell the 1.1 on Ebay, and buy something really slammin' next year?

If your current mobo supports it I would just do the CPU upgrade for now given your current budget. Then save your money for next year for a "big" upgrade,

Also, it seems like CPU manufacturers drop their prices quarterly, so it might make sense to purchase after Oct 1 or Jan 1.

I'm going to do a system upgrade after the first of the year.
