    Christmas aftermath... ;)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We had a very nice one.

We had some inlaws & family over for dinner and my wife made a roast that
was roasted in Brandy and Red Whine as well as a 10lb Free Range Organic
Turkey (again!) for dinner along with all the trimmings, etc. Damn was it
good eating!! Now the hard part... digesting and, well - I'll leave out those details.

As far as gifts go.. no complaints here!

I got a few DVDs for my collection:

    Patton
    Stripes
    Heartbreak Ridge
Road House (Yes, this is a running joke between my wife and I!!)

    I also got:

A dresser valet from the Bombay Company
    A Microsoft Multimedia Natural Keyboard
    A Binary clock from ThinkGeek.
A griffin PowerMate (This is cool!!)
A Pits mousepad (The Pits - Thanks to Jan & Sue
    Kohl)
    A Seattle Seahawks Snack Helmet
And a bunch of miscellaneous items.

I have something else coming, but my wife won't tell me what. She's pretty
pissed it didn't show up yesterday as it was "guaranteed" delivery.
    Hopefully I will no tomorrow.

I took a few pictures today. You can see them here.

I think my wife was happy with our Christmas too. She received pretty much
everything she was hoping for from Santa.

Bribo... I got a Dremel 2 Christmas' ago. Of course, now I want the cordless one.

That microscope is pretty cool! I won't ask what you've been putting under there though. I know cyberguys has one as well that can get pretty complicated and expensive - up to $725 or so with all the different lenses, etc

Well I scored a few gifts this christmas

Audigy 2 NX USB sound card
    Hot dog cooker
    $100 gift card for Futureshop
$40 in gift certificates for Tim Hortins (that doesn't help my small addiction to coffee...or the fact that their are 2 of them inside Fanshawe College)
More candy then I know what to do with

I think I'll end up buying a webcam for my laptop with the Futureshop gift card.

The Da Vinci Code is a book of lies and blasphemy. Dan Brown presents the novel's historical information as factual and accurate, yet he re-writes biblical history by proposing that Mary Magdeline was not a reformed prostitute, but rather the mother of Christ's children (!), as well as His appointed successor (!!). It is nothing more than pseudo-intellectual, feminist garbage; as Cynthia Grenier writes of the book in The Weekly Standard, "It's hard to imagine many male readers responding to . . . [The Da Vinci Code] unless their feminine sensibilities are of a singular sensitivity." Concerning the historical elements of the novel, Genier continues, "As for general factual accuracy, let me say if Brown, his mother, his wife, and his editors believe that the Hotel de Crillon is about a mile from the American Embassy (actually, it's just accross the rue Boissy d'Anglas), they are hardly to be trusted on more complex matters of religious lore."

It's sad that The Da Vinci Code has been such a huge best-seller, and sadder still if people are believing its contents.

By the way, one of my gifts was a 30 GB iPod. The other gifts are, therefore, inconsequential. I love that thing almost as much as my TiVo, which it may soon surpass in the contest for my affections.

The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction, and I intend to read it as such. If it glosses over facts (or gets them dead wrong) I expect to enjoy picking that shit apart as I go along.

The word "blasphemy" means nothing to me, personally.

iPods rock, as do most Apple products. I bought my wife an iBook for xmas and she's happy.

12 inch iBook dual USB G3 600mhz. 20 gig HD, 512Meg memory, Airport wireless. OSX 10.2

Surprisingly snappy performance, probably thanks to the memory upgrade.
Great for web surfing and email, and it has MS Office installed. I was using it for irc all day yesterday during the football games and it rawked.

I got it on Ebay for a lot less than a new iBook. It came with like 400 songs in its iTunes library...about 3/4 of which are "worth listening to." Not a bad deal all considered.

"Screen quality" is excellent, as is the case with all Apple products. 1024x768 resolution is sufficient considering the small screen size.
