Thread: LCD screens Q.

    50+ yr old guy at the office just asked me a question that maybe you guys can help with. He's got a 19"CRT, but after about an hour of gaming he gets up and can't see anymore for awhile. Is this something that switching to a LCD screen would help with?

    Have him check his refresh rate.. that's what the problem usually is. Most olderish monitors set the default to 60Hz which can wear on the eyes pretty quick. 85Hz or higher is usually best.

    But more then likely an LCD would help, since they don't have refresh rates.

    BTW, if he's running WinXP and an older NVIDIA card there is the famous "refresh rate bug" that he might want to fix. This bug prevented the system from going above 60Hz.

    He says his refresh is set at 85, which should be plenty high.
