    BFV Impressions after first night.

After a full night of playing, I thought I would share my impressions and questions/concerns.... as I know Stitch is sitting on the edge of his seat waiting for them.

I love the graphics. The water and foliage are awesome. Hiding is definitely a strategic necessity in this game.

I think with BFV, Ladder tournaments will be a blast because there will be so many different strategies you can employ. Mobs to capture flags faster, disabling enemy equipment, "booty" traps, etc.

I think the Heli flying model is pretty well done. Not just because it is easier, but I think it's a nice balance of 'realism' and playability.

We REALLY need to get a remote server manager working. Palooka, any idea when you will have a copy of the game to do some testing with? There seemed to be some confusion on what the manager could or couldnt do depending on the option selected. Obviously, there HAS to be a way for the remote server app to control all the functions of the server and not just the local manager.

Also for Palooka... were all the weapons enabled for the server by chance? I know you can select which equipment, weapons, etc are available on the server when you set it up. The reason I ask is that was unable to use a mortar last night online. In single player, I had no problem using the mortar, deploying, etc. However, when playing online ( I did not get a chance to try it on another server ), when I selected to use the mortar, it would start to deploy.. but then would just disappear and if I went back to select it again, I couldn't as it was 'used'. I thought perhaps it had to be on a specific type of surface or something but I tried on the flattest land I could find, rock, dirt, etc and I could never use the mortar last night.

The tunnel digging thing has me confused as well. I know in the Readme it talks about the tunnels not showing up for some clients.. but I could find the tunnel/shovel and use G to pick it up, but again... whenever I went to deploy them... I would do like 2 or 3 shovel digs and nothing... nothing would appear and I would lose use of that shovel again. I'm wondering if it has to be within a certain radius of a control point or something like that.

So if anyone has any knowledge of how the mortar and tunnel digging works... I'd appreciate it because it was driving me fricken nuts trying to figure it out last night!

They need to do something about the score overlay. Hard to read.

You mean the thing that pops up when you hit tab?

I have a feeling that this game is a couple of patches away from true greatness...but it's still pretty darn cool.

Palooka - you see that there is a new map available for download?

Watching you die on that "Booty" trap for the first time last night was hilarious.

that's the expression that was being used in jest lastnight and it sounded funny and just kind of stuck for the night.

That's exactly the word I was looking for which is why it was in quotes.

Choozoo... yes, I most certainly remember the Goonies. Maybe I should change my avatar to Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli.
