We may be jumping the gun here. The same arguments were being made at the turn of the 20th century about the large influx of immigrants (my grandparents being some of them).

However, we should start to worry if we start to see something like this start happening here in the States.

the replacement of a people is a natural occurance. Every 20 years in American history has seen an influx of various groups. And each preceeding group has squared off against the current one. "Rights of Passage" I guess.

What isn't natural is the replacement of the culture and values. So far, nearly every immigrant group has assimilated into the American culture, and added to it. The current trend, is not so. Do not wait for it to happen here, because it will.

for the realists:
must agree that the immigration rules are lax. As are the internal laws. As are all laws!!! But this sad state of affairs isn't just because of "immigrants". Its the law makers and the law enforcers (not the cops..they aren't give sufficient power to enforce law). The courts and governments need to take a stand, not against races or religions or sexual orientation, but against stupidity, laziness and ignorance. I suggested to a friend, somewhat tongue in cheek, that perhaps manditory IQ tests before you can immigrate.

How about the removal of welfare for anyone who hasn't been in the country for more than 5 yrs?

As for human rights: they have the right to practice any religious or cultural practice within the bounds of law within our great countries (Canada and the U.S.) but the right to force those practices down my throat MUST NOT BE granted! There are laws in place, laws that are based on Anglo-Christian principals. I am neither Anglo nor Christian, yet I follow those laws because I have chosen to make North America my home. If I didn't like it, I'd move!

Basically I agree with the issues concerning immigration, but to blame them on this race or that race or various religions is simply put: stupid. Place the blame in the right area; on the courts and politians who allow ANY group to force their beliefs down your throat!

I meant the current pop culture is that of the stereotypical black man, at school I was surrounded by them (and quite sick of it, I might add). All I meant by it was an underhanded throw at what I hate about the african american culture.. I personally think Cosby said it best at the NAACP banquet.

Also, I'm sick of hearing the N-word out of these black people's mouths every other word. Wassup my nword this, I hate that nword that.. All they are doing is adding fuel to the fire and propelling the stereotype.

There are smart and very cool black people out there, but they have been few and far between for me to find. However I happen to be living with one of the more non-stereotypical black men right now, he's in the city doing mission work in "Over the Rhine"... the worst, most gang and murder filled part of the city.

Before Goodwin gets his due, I'm going to sneak one in...

Personally, of all the foreign policy that we export, I believe with utter conviction that birth control should be the single most important thing we should be helping the world with. I don't donate to international childrens charities as a general rule. But I'd happily donate to some international organization that gives out norplants, or even vasecotomys. I'm convinced that many of the third world countries are being crushed under their own weight of excessive overpopulation in a system that can't support it. Historically the world population has been stable because we haven't had the medical facilities to allow a mother to birth 12 kids, and only a few of those 12 would survive. Today, they all survive and mom can have 12 more. We've exported the medicine now, but we haven't exported birthcontrol to go along with it. So the nations who have their act together use birthcontrol, and the nations that don't are exporting their people to us. Great.

Here's a dirty tidbit. Some historians believe that the reason European culture dominated the latter portion of history wasn't dispite the plague - it was because of it. The rapid population relief on the existing resources become a boom - allowing unprecidented wealth and subsequent achievement.
