Tribes 2 - Browser - and the AK Server

I haven't been able to play on the AK server as it's not showing up in my server list. Yea, yea, I could console in and manually join - but it's such a pain. UNTIL the developers fix the Tribes 2 browser issue(s) and we can add names to our "buddy list" to see where they are playing, I have the following suggestiong:

    1. Before jumping into a game join a CHAT room called "August Knights Tribes". If it doesn't exist in the list, join it anyway it and will be created.

Then, if you want to see who is playing all you need to do is join the chat. The chat window says Player joined game 'XYZ', click here to follow, etc. It's what I've been doing. Seen a few others doing it too. Just wanted to comment it would be a good way of finding people until the AK server starts showing up in the list and the buddy list thing comes back online.

IRC chat is a very popular item in the tribes community in general and also for others to talk to your clan.

The link feature that identifies when and where a person is jumping into a server is very useful as Wrath mentioned.

However, I'm not sure that the link would stay posted for those guys who log in after you leave the room.

The AK server never shows up on my list anymore either. It used to whenever I first got the game, but it never does anymore. How is it that I can join the server manually...cause I sure can't seem to figure it out on my own.

Palooka gave me the info via ICQ last night...worked like gangbusters; I had a blast. I've forgotten the command, but it's in my ICQ at home; I'll post it when I get there if no one beats me to it.

Same here...it starts out red or timed out on first pass. Then I just go to favorites section, highlite it, click server inquirey, and lastly refresh and it shows up properly.

Marking it as a favorite is an effective workaround for the problem that everyone is having with the browser. Fact is, that this is a bug that has been reported (by me). I haven't seen any corrective measures being taken to this point other than the assignment of the bug to some poor sap over at Loki Games. In the mean time, popping to the console and typing:

    JoinGame(63.161.23.179:28000);

will work. I'm quite sorry for the inconvenience, but it's the best I can do until they fix the danged thing...

Okay...Until fix is make and everyone can see the server...each time I log into T2 I will start a IRC called August Knights prior to heading into our server and hopefully the link will be there when you log in.

I have found that when I first the game up and jump to the server list, I will only get about 150-160 servers listed. It seems to stop after pinging the first 150 or so and the bar never gets smaller.

If I do a refresh list during the inital ping set I then get all the servers....including AK. Give it a try see if it helps at all.

Well, I have figured out what the problem is...now to get the ear of someone that can actually fix it... What seems to be happening is that only ONE of the 4 master servers is getting information for my server in its master list. The IP of that particular server is 209.67.28.145. The "primary" server, which I *think* has the IP of 64.94.105.145 hasn't the faintest clue about the AK Server. So, apparently, depending on whether you roll the right number in picking a particular master server, depends upon whether or not you see the server in the list. Roughly, at this point, you have a 25% chance of getting it... It's very strange how disparate the information is on each of the servers. One master server says there's 600 servers, where another one might have 1000+ on file. Something is definitely hosed with the way that they are syncing information. Here's hoping it gets fixed. I spent a good while chatting with a guy over at Loki Games (the company that did the Linux port) and he said that we would mention the problem to the guy that has been assigned my bug report. Who knows... perhaps something'll get done... For now, use JoinGame(); and I'll keep working on things to the best of my ability over here... Sorry for the inconvenience....

Well, when I went into the network settings, I switched to the East America Server, where it used to be on the West America Server. Whenever I went back and refreshed the servers, the AK server showed up. Maybe I just got lucky and hit that 25% chance, not too sure. Only problem was that the server was empty...where is everybody?

i had it on "na west" in the network settings when i found the server. plus, i always thought the master server listing was for when you host a game yourself.

Picked this up over at MHz on linking to server.

Simply join the August Knights chat channel in the game on any given night. If you see
someone in there private chat him then type something in the private chat box. The game will then provide you with a link to where that person is playing.

    Hope this helps.
