Play with Nuts! - GAME #2

As the last game was won so quickly by Choozoo, and I'm eager to try a new mystery on you fine fellows, I decided not to wait 2 weeks.

Based on the clues that will be given over a period of time, please identify the video game in question. You must provide the name and publisher to win. This time around the prize is a $10.00 gift certificate from Amazon. (Again, thanks to Choozoo for passing on the $5.00 thus upping the pot)

    Clue #1 is this image

    Best of Luck!

Prizes will be awarded only to active AK members, AK Squires, and AK Recruits. Gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates should be spent within 18 months from the date of issuance, which is the "spend by" date included on the gift certificate. Gift certificate holders will be given an additional 6-month grace period to spend their gift certificates, and gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates will expire two years from the date of issuance, which is the "expires" date included on the gift certificate.*
Gift certificates must be redeemed through the Amazon.com Web site, http://www.amazon.com, toward the purchase of products listed in Amazon.com's online catalog. Gift certificates may be redeemed for the purchase of products from third-party sellers through the Amazon.com Web site, except gift certificates may not be redeemed for purchases at Amazon.com Auctions, zShops, and the following merchants: Circuit City, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Newport News, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Spiegel, Ultimate Outlet Brands (Spiegel Clearance). [AK]Nuts (further known as Judge) has final determination of winner and can void any entry as he determines. Entry into said contest is consent to to have DiscoStu sleep over at your house and molest your pets. Prize to be awarded within five(5) business days of determining the winner. The winner must provide the judge with a valid e-mail address to be awarded said prize. The prize is delivered via e-mail and by no other means. Winners have the option of rolling prize over thus increasing the pot. Maximum prize award is $50.00 (US). Not applicable in Montana as they are a bunch of crazy gun-toting, militia-card-carrying, ted kaczynski-lovin' fools.

I played this one on my Tandy PC when I was a kid (around 1990). It's Starflight 2 in beautiful EGA. Here's a tip: Stay the hell out of the nebulas; there be nasties in there.

There's no way in hell I'm gonna get this one. It looks like an early Star Trek game, possibly an Empire remake.

    Arg

Sorry for the outage of the site... crud.
Either way, Palooka guessed it right.

StarFlight 2 from EA Games was and still is one of the best PC Games ever made. With over 800 planets to explore, a ship to customize, crews to train, a cool rover to mine for minerals, aliens to fight with and deal with, all on two 5 1/4in floppy disks, this game dominated an entire summer in my life when it came out.

You can find bootleg copies that work on modern PC's, but of course you'll need the decoder ring (early anti-piracy technology) to run it.

As my site crashed shortly after uploading it, I'd hate to give anyone an unfair advantage. After a serious 2 minute thought, I've decided to null this game and start another one later today. I hope everyone understands and I'm sorry about the screw-up. Not my intention.

But the riddle was solved before the site went down, so what difference does it make? I would have won, anyway. I smell controversy!

You are correct as I neglected to note the times. Congrats to Palooka! Palooka has one a $10.00 amazon.com gift certificate! Stay tuned for another game in 2 weeks.

Looks like I'm going to have to try harder in these riddles.

Also, I suppose, to make things fair I should do this at a set time/day. Perhaps Mondays at 1200 (Pacific). I'm making all this stuff as I go along, so feel free to give suggestions.
