So sorry master Po, my pc is having issues, not that you want a review from someone with a Ti4600 anyways.

    OK

I didn't even finish the first level due to time constraints....

    Machine Specs:
    P4 1.7
    512 RAMBUS
    Ti 4600 128MB Card

To play, I had to set the screen size to 640x480, but guess what? It STILL looked good. This game is bringing back the old days of blowing off class to play doom in the fraternity house. I'm very impressed. The level of detail on the faces, interior, motion, lighting, etc is impressive.

I played for a bit in the dark, and I was on the edge of my seat. Then the power goes out (in game), and you can hear someone breathing/gurgling close by. I haven't been this into a game in some time.

Kudos to id, even though Todd Hollenswhatever is a tool. They've done a magnificent job on this one. I'd like to see how this performs on a high end machine, because there looks to be so much to offer.

    Pros: -- it's pretty
    -- it's easy to play
-- excitement causes a pucker factor of 8 in a 10 scale, it's like a horror movie on steroids.

Cons: --be prepared to overclock your low end equipment.
--beginning takes FOREVER before you get to blast anything
--shotgun ROF too slow. I'd expect more from a shotgun in 2110 or whatever it is

    Wait, so you're saying on a 1.7ghz machine with a Ti4600 it's gonna bog down a lot?

Thats not what I wanted to hear...

I wouldn't say bog down. It's very playable, but frames are low, 20s 30s.

One thing I did notice was that the sound would "skip". you'd hear 3 shotgun blasts even though you fired once, or people would repeat what they sid to you a couple or three times like a broken record. BUT, I'm using on board sound, so that shouldn't hold true with a Creative or Audigy card or equivelent.

Trust me, give it a shot before you do anything else.

I'm disappointed Squid wasn't tracking this topic and that he hasn't replied yet.

I agree with Choozoo for the most part (minus shotgun)

I have all the effects turned on but I'm running at 800x600 and it's super smooth. I'm using a 9600XT with no tweaks turned on with a 2.8ghz/1gb Ram/72.gb 10k raptor/Xp Pro

the PDA feature is awesome. The e-mail and comm stuff is a cool feature.
the map detail and design is fantastic. They really have done an amazing job on this. Granted i'm still in Mars City early on in the game so I don't know how the maps hold up going deeper into the game.

I disagree with Choozoo on the Shotgun, it's ROF is pretty well set for the game. Just make damn sure you hit what your shooting at, or your gonna get scratched or chewed on.

The IMP's are F-in NUTZ. When the fire ball starts it glows and smokes. and when it hits you, you burn for a moment with a leftover smoke trail. That also goes for when it hit's something other then you.

Depending on the human/zombie type you run into. Some are faster and smarter then others. The fat bodies and scientists just wonder and chew. The marines tend to shoot, run, hide, sneak. It makes you play smarter against them.

Lighting effects are amazing, the way you don't know what's in the dark. So if you take your flashlight out you might see the face of a zombie (shereeeek!!!!!!) as you dive out of your computer chair and go into the fetal position, just like Doom 1!

THIS GAME IS WORTH EVERY PENNY IF YOU HAVE THE BOX TO RUN IT ON.

I have not done Multi-Player yet. Can those who are going to buy it post here so we can get a 4person multiplay server going tonight???

I see your point better now. Plus the varied sound the shotgun makes based on distance is a very nice touch.
