Only 4-6 weeks, and we play the Cardinals, Panthers, and Niners next. Plus Chad Brown will be back in 2 weeks. Don't get scared, little skipper.

    - LOL...
That is a good sign that Chad Brown will be back, Plus like you said, I can't see those three teams giving the Seahawks a hard time.

I wouldn't have thought the Rams would have given the Seahawks a hard time, either, though. I've maintained since last season that the "Greatest Show on Turf" is more like the "Most Overrated Show on Turf".

They didn't give us a hard time. We dominated them thoroughly. Too thoroughly. Our guys thought they had the game won and stopped playing with 8 minutes to go in the 4th. A couple of miraculous pass/catches by the Rams, a drop or two by the Hawks', a blitz too many and one running play too few and the rest is history. As we saw last night, the Rams are hardly a great team. They struggled on defense against the BUCS(!) of all teams. At home even.

The Hawk's greatest challenge is overcoming their own internal demons.

We tried passing and it cost us the game. So much for that fine plan.

Nice try, but throwing one incomplete pass at an inappropriate time doesn't hold water against my complaint. I've admitted there are times when that kind of play calling is appropriate... 5:30 minutes in the fourth quarter when the Rams just drove the field to bring the score down to 10 point deficit is NOT one of them.

8:42 left in the game.. Rams get ball with Seahawks up 27-10. Rams have 3.08 drive for a TD and Hawks up by 10 with 5:34 left in game. ENTER THE STO:

Seattle Seahawks at 5:34, (1st play from scrimmage 5:28)
    1-10-SEA 21 (5:28) 37-S.Alexander up the middle to SEA 23 for 2 yards (79-R.Pickett).
    2-8-SEA 23 (4:45) 37-S.Alexander right end to SEA 30 for 7 yards (52-T.Polley, 50-P.Tinoisamoa).
    3-1-SEA 30 (4:01) 37-S.Alexander right tackle to SEA 30 for no gain (25-R.Coady, 79-R.Pickett).
Timeout #3 by SL at 03:51.
    4-1-SEA 30 (3:51) 16-T.Rouen punts 50 yards to SL 20, Center-52-J.Darche. 84-S.McDonald pushed ob at SEA 41 for 39 yards (44-H.Evans).

3 straight runs and punt.. vintage MH STO at its best. This is where we should have been sticking with what was working and where we were moving the ball. The Rams knew we were going into the STO, and MH played right into their hands.

3:37 seconds left in game, Seattle up by 10. Rams score on 1 play in 7 seconds. Seattle now up by 3 with 3:30 seconds left in the game. (Yes, the defense doing its job prevents this... but getting a first down on the previous possession prevents even putting our defense in the following situations to lose).

Now, MH passes on first down and we get a first down and kill 44 seconds. 2:40 seconds left on the clock. Now.. THIS is when you should run the ball and MH showed poor time management. After getting the first down and 2:40 left on the clock... Rams had no TO.. we could have run on first down and taken it down to or close to the 2:00 warning. Run on second down and take it down to about 1:30 - 1:40. Run on third down and take it down to under a minute ten to 55 seconds. NOW punt if you don't get a first down, game over if you do. Instead, after giving the Rams a chance at the 5:40 second mark with the PREMATURE STO... we pass on first and third down.

    You shouldn't have bothered - I didn't read it.

17 point lead 8 minutes to go you shouldn't be winging it. Period. The Hawks blew it on defense and in a short yardage situation. Then at the end they blew it by throwing when they should've been running some more. When you use the strategy, you need to *stick with the strategy*. Know when to use it, how to execute it, and then stick with it. That they failed to execute in this particular situation doesn't invalidate the strategy any more than failure to block for a run invalidates all running plays, ever.

Throwing the ball around in this situation increases the likelyhood of catestrophic failure.

But whatever - I know where you stand, you know where I stand. Enough.

Of course you didn't. Explains alot about your ignorance on my position and the issue.

Never said we should be. But you didn't read what I said , so you wouldn't know that.

The Hawks blew it on defense and in a short yardage situation.
Which they do regularly when MH insists on attempting to use Alexander as Jerome Bettis.

Then at the end they blew it by throwing when they should've been running some more. When you use the strategy, you need to *stick with the strategy*.
When you are moving the ball with a balanced attack, I agree.. you should *stick with the strategy* until the other team stops you. Especially when the other team just scored to make it a 10 point game with just under 6 minutes to go.

[quote]Know when to use it, how to execute it, and then stick with it. [/quote

And its apparent MH doesn't know when or how, and you agree with the error.

That they failed to execute in this particular situation doesn't invalidate the strategy any more than failure to block for a run invalidates all running plays, ever.
You know as well as I do they've failed with the "run Alexander 3 times and punt" more than this particular situation . Just because we were lucky enough to come away with a win once doesn't mean it was the correct philosophy.

Throwing the ball around in this situation increases the likelyhood of catestrophic failure.
You mean like blowing a 17 point lead with 8 minutes to go because you can't get a first down running it 3 times and punting? Because throwing the ball at the right time when you've demonstrated repeatedly, particular in the previous drive, that you can throw short slants and high percentage passes mixed with runs to get first downs (which kills the clock more than 3 and outs and also keeps the other offense off the field).

But whatever - I know where you stand, you know where I stand. Enough.
I'm not sure you know where I stand, since you continually misrepresent my position and say you didn't read it. But, whatever - I DO know where you stand.
