    Cooking with Steam

Well, I had $65 in mad money ... so I spent $59.95 for the Silver package. That "Half Life:Source" showing in the Steam menu looks very promising. Even if Half Life 2 does not live up to the hype, the opportunity to play the original on an enhanced engine is a definite plus. I am downloading CS:Source right now, but have to go watch a romantic comedy with the wife to earn computer time before I can play it. :-)

Hmmm ... played some CS:Source and was pleasantly surprised at how well my 9700 Pro handled the levels. On the Video Stress Test, I had about 78 fps, without overclocking my card. I think this game takes full advantage of faster CPUs and memory, as well as video card power.
