Is it too much to ask for an HTML enabled forum? I've drafted up 4 other versions of the comet for your viewing enjoyment.

Hey Wraith, Is there any way to elongate the ball so that it appears to be disintegrating at the rear? If you can, the last one in that series would look pretty good. A comet's tail should blend it where it meets the head ...

Disintigrating, hmmm... You mean the black side of the ball and the black tail of the comet isn't the blend sort of thing you're talking about?

I guess what I meant is that it is too perfectly round. Even with the black/black blend at the edge, it looks like a ball with a shadow on it. The demarcation between the ball and the tail is still awfully sharp. It should blur somewhat on the trailing edge and kind of "become" the tail.

Again, just MHO. It's a great-looking graphic.

The "orange ball" has the most potential. Why not use a pic of a real comet?

Abaddon has a point there, if the orange ball blended to become the black shadow, it would look real nice

Maybe add some texture to the ball to get that rock look. But that might move the focal point to far to the left.

Too many attempts at giving texture to give the rock look made it look like an Orange in the first place
