Stupid and Late Monday Poll (Jan 19th)

Well folks, last night the Nuts Family did their 2004 taxes. We're getting back a butt-load (and yes, that's an official Internal Revenue Service descriptor) of money this year thanks to Nuts Jr.

What's your tax outlook looking like?

(hey.. is this poll actually 'typo free'? Wow!)

    I will owe under $500.

I don't believe in giving the government an interest free loan on my money. I always claim one extra exemption so that I never overpay my taxes. If I file and it's getting close to the $500 owed mark, I increase by dollar figure the amount held out for taxes. My goal is to always pay under $500, or at worst receive less than $500 in a refund.

Between state and federal taxes, I typically get ~$1000 back per year. My W2 still lists me as my parents' dependent--I'm still using the same one from when I was an hourly wage student worker in the same department I work in now. I know I'm giving 'em an interest-free loan, but really, I get more use out of the lump sum than I would out of the ~$20 or so a paycheck it would work out to be, and it's worth it not to have to worry about whether or not I'm going to owe the IRS or the Delaware Dept. of Revenue money come April.

    In a nutshell: Hylander's thrifty; I'm lazy.

"I don't pay taxes, I live in Canada"? Uh...check that and get back to us.
