    Vacation?

Based off the article in the Political Forums concerning vacation hours for France, and the fact that there is no federal vacation laws (thank god!), I'm curious as to what your paid-vacation looks like.

Post total number of days, paid. Do not include holidays. Do not include weekends. Do not include sick days or family leave days.

For example if you get two-weeks off, that may turn out to be either 10 or 14 days depending on how your company works.

Me? I started with 4 weeks right off the bat (They took my military service into account). I won't get an increase for another 16 years.

Best ever for me was military. 30 days.

Oil Tanker crews get about 60 days on, 30 days off. U.S. Sailors get even better, 45 on - 45 off.

I have my 10th year Anniversary at the Credit Union this coming March, and I move to 4 weeks vacation (20 days) in 2006, which doesn't include any holiday floaters, holidays, or sick days. (We don't get "personal" days). 4 Weeks is the maximum number attainable. But we do get all the holidays when ever the Federal Reserve is closed.

When I worked for the school board they gave us 1 vacation day month. So we would get a max of 12 days a month they did that as well with sick time 1 day a month. We did not get all the sweet time off that the teachers and students got. We did not get a Spring Break or now also a Fall Break. That is actually when we could get more accomplished at the schools. When students and teachers around they made everything more complicated.

Now that I am back in school and questioning what in the hell I was thinking I am to old for this ha ha. I wound up enrolling in a college that is condensed and accelerated to where a 4 year program is completed in 2 years. Just have to sacrifice everything for that period of time including some good game time in BF2 and sleep. They do not give us many breaks a week off for Christmas and a week off for Spring Break. Other than that it is straight through.

Vacation?! I don't even know what the hell a vacation is.

Owning my own business I take off five days at Christmas to see my family and that's about it. Some years if I'm lucky I can get away for another three days or so on a scuba trip.

I get 1.87 (huh?) days off per month. How many I can accumulate is based on how long I've been employed. This past January was my 5-year anniversary, so my max accumulation went up from 25 to 30. Of course, I haven't taken a vacation for so long that I'm at my maximum every month, forcing me to take about 2 days off every month. And that's not counting all the holiday time (Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, 2 days for Thanksgiving, and December 24th-January 1st for the holiday break).

I may get paid crap, but I can't complain about the vacation time.
