    Photo Manipulation and the Media

A good photo essay can be found HERE .

Basically the photography shows a photo run by the news... then puts the photo in context by showing the uncropped version and different angles... giving the viewer a better 'picture' of what was actually taking place.

hmmm look to me like there was both white and black soldiers (or quite possibly the tannest white man I have ever seen) in your little circles but hey if you had said that it wouldn't have made an ignorant statment about race now would it.

I thought this thread was about how the media, supposedly objective reporters of the news, were deceiving the public. Not sure what a political campaign ad has to do with that anyway.

Socialists and International ANSWER, a front for the Amreican Communist Party, have a large involvement in the "peace" movement. There should be more coverage of it in the media. These are the sort of folks who march with signs that say "We support our troops when they kill their officers." Funny how that never gets addressed, and you rarely see the surging tide of moonbats at these protests.

Photoshopping news photography to purposely tell a tale different from reality strikes me as particularly onerous.

Campaign ads (or any other ad for that matter) may fall into the same category if a claim is being made based on what is represented.

If a background is changed to make the text stand out better or remove a distracting telephone pole or somesuch - no problem. If a prostitute is photoshopped in to a photo your opponent walking into his hotel room - big problem. Etc. Seems like common sense to me.

    The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.
