    Model RR

Take a look at the level of detail this guy has in his urban model railroad.

I used to be into model railroads back when I was a kid. I love this stuff.

That is a pretty cool set up.

You would be amazed at how much detail these guys go through on putting there backgrounds together...

We call these guys "foamers" on the railroad. They foam at the mouth when they see trains.
Drives me nutz when there's a bunch of foamers on the siding with cameras as your passing. (you have to put down the paper, playboy, hide your lit cigarette and act like your hard at work)

When I was around 13 I was a "foamer" as you put it. Me and a friend used to go watch trains, take pictures of them, build our own model railroads, etc. We even used to hop the trains and ride them around the area. Was fun for a while but I out grew it.

One of my friends who I grew up with was/is a huge train fan. He would rarely come outside.. unless a train was coming by. The Bicentenial Train coming through in 1976 was huge (and we were only 5 and 6 years old) and when the county fair train showed up every year.

He is now the Director of the Chemung Valley Railway Historical Society in upstate NY. I know he goes to Steam Town in Scranton, he came down to the Roanoake railroad museum back when I was at college in Radford in the early 90s, and he's had a ton of model railway setups through the years.

That's funny because I had a friend just like this who went on to be an engineer running diesel locomotive freights.
