Captian Hook's DVD back up zone

For those trying to back up their authorized DVD's. Couple things that may help:

AnyDVD www.slysoft.com - This has allowed me to copy those hard to read DVD's. Shareware trail (21 days), so have your stack of Hard to read DVD ready!

Also for the Music CD's remember to remove Autorun off of your CD drives since most copy protection loads with it.

    Regedit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentcontrolSet/Services/Cdrom
Change the Autorun value from 1 to 0.

Another than that, DVD shrink, seem to be the best options for copies.
    www.dvdshrink,org

This concludes this public service message for Capt Clay and Capt Fightclub!

How timely of a post Rocks!

Pops Murphy called the other day and asked me to do a little research for him. It seems that his DVDShrink isn't working on some newer DVD's that have hit the shelves as of late. He claims that new copy protection is beating DVDShrink (example given was the DVD, "The Greatest Raid"). I don't do any DVD copying, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

    What do you use?
Have you started to have any new copy problems?

Any Tips on encouraging AnyDvd to run a little longer than 21 days? (set the clock to 2010 before installing? A registry key to delete? etc?)

A co-worker of mine got some bootleg software from a guy online... when he receive the package, it contained the following blurb:

I doubt it would hold up, but an interesting idea none the less.

I suspect I may not be using AnyDVD correctly. I launch the program and insert my disk for backup. AnyDVD doesn't see any problems in it's checkout. So I launch DvDShrink and open the disk for analysis. During it's normal 1 min pre-analysis, it hangs up at 45% analyzing and gives me a cyclic redundancy error. Isn't this one of the things that AnyDVD is supposed to defeat?

hmm Wierd. The 2 disks I had that I couldnt copy worked great with Anydvd. It runs in the background and takes off the protection right when you put the dvd into your computer. Do you only have one dvd drive? Find me on vetrilo this weekend and we will compare settings.

You can't use AnyDVD with DVD Shrink. They are both decrypters and won't work together. The latest problem was caused by a company called Macrovision developing a new anti-piracy technology. Slysoft is ahead of the rest in implementing a workaround. I have used both Nero and CloneDVD2, with AnyDVD without any problems.
