    Fallout 3

For those of you who loved both Wasteland and the Fallout series. Here is some good news. Fallout 3 is being worked on again!, not much information is supplied from this snippet of information included in the link below. However it does say it will be out for both the PC and XBOX360 platforms.

Which means it will be dumbed down and most likely suck as most multi-platform games do.

Here's hoping they don't screw it up. I was a huge fan of the former and a big fan of post-Apoc themed games and movies in general.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.

I'm very willing to give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt after Oblivion--a cross platform RPG that most definitely didn't suck.

Both this and BioShock are two console/pc joint developing titles that I'm very hopeful to see come out as the exceptions to the rule of multi-platform games being, as Bribo stated, dumbed down. Fallout 2 is right up there with Planescape:Torment for my favorite PRGs, and System Shock 2 is probably my all-time favorite.

I gave up on Oblivion very eary. Enemies that scale to your current experience level just KILLED the game for me. What's the point of an RPG if you don't have to build your character up over time to deal with more complex challenges?

And yeah, the menu/inventory system was horribly nerfed by consolitis.

There were other issues like the "insta-travel" that I also hated. Lots of people liked the game, I realize, but for me it was just one big ball of candy-coated suck.

I played Morrowind and it's add-ons all the way through and had high hopes for it, but I found Oblivion terminally disappointing.

So I take it, that it was filed under D for Dead
Man you guys are so harsh on Console games. I'd hate to have to bust out my soapbox again on how Consoles are 10x better then PC's. In the interest of time and not hi-jacking my own forum thread, I'll just let that sleeping dog lie for now.

I'm not harsh on console games. I'm only harsh on console games they dumb down for the PC and in doing so cripple the game mechanics and game play.

Yeah... it destroyed a wonderful PC franchise for me. Nerfing control and features in the name of cross system compatibility is still a nerf.

I didn't realize they were "scaling" enemies. I know that rats and wolves that were fair fights at levels 1-5 now drop with 1-2 sword hits at level 20-21, and that the "painted troll" quest that was impossible at level 8-10 was easily "do-able" (with frequent rests) at level 20. I'm going to have to pay attention the next time I play.

Yeah, I went to the end game area immediately after leaving the starter area. I was able to fight my way through. I shouldn't have been able to clear the first mob.

The scaling enemy thing is pretty well documented out there if you do a google on it.
