Just ordered a new Dell 22-inch widescreen monitor ...

I was checking out the Dell site and found a 22-inch widescreen that looked really nice. I've been running a 19-inch CRT for three years now, and decided that it is time to upgrade the beast.

This is the monitor that I ordered:

    http://accessories.dell.com/sna/prod...44&sku=E2283YR

It only cost $329. I had no idea that the LCDs had dropped that much in cost.

That's the same one I have - though the batch they made my week at the Chinese factory they put a Samsung label on the bottom. Great monitor. If your video card can do it, I suggest keeping your old monitor and setting up your PC to be dual monitor.

I have the DELL 20in widescreen which I've had for over a year now, and I love it! 1680x1050 looks wonderful in most games.

I've been running a Sony 19" CRT for a couple of years (bought it refurb) and since getting the new HP 24" at work, I've been thinking about getting one at home.

    It's very bright!

But I agree with the dual monitor. I use 19" CRT (Primary) and 17" LCD for secondary at home. At work I have 24" pri and 19" LCD sec. It's great for work!

    Ab,

Are you still happy with this monitor? I'm looking for a new one. Any problems?

Yes, but I'm not made of money and would need a much larger desk.

    Besides, I have a mini-van to buy.

No problems. It required some adjustments to get the colors exactly right, but is flawless otherwise. I could not ask for a better monitor at the price.

Bribo and I have been talking, Hylander.

My monitor would be more accurately described as a "video wall".

I literally cannot see anything but gameworld while playing. The rest of the room...even the bezel is outside of my peripheral vision.

It's been a long time since I've been as thoroughly geeked about a hardware purchase. (It's a 30inch Apple Cinema Display.)

Pix are up on my Flickr account for those interested in such things.

I've heard great things about 30" monitors...

I'm content with my 20.1" for now, though.

I don't remember... probably. I have 2 versions of WoW installed on that machine and I like to run both at the same time, allowing me to log in with both Dawill and Mimi at the same time to swap stuff back and forth. I could just alt tab, but the windowed mode lets me resize and see what's going on on both windows at the same time.

When I'm doin a raid or something I usually go full screen.

I'll have to try that.. I thought the last time I tried window mode in WoW it was a virtual slide show.

My system is nothing special processor wise (3ghz) but I think memory helps. 4G main system ram, 512meg on video card.

I'm limited to AGP, but it works as fast as it ever did now at 1920x1200. Above that in game and I start to chug a little.

HL2 works wonderfully in widescreen mode, btw.
