Warning I require some Immediate Assistance!

Recently I restarted my computer (in 2000 its a rare thing for me) and i noticed the processor speed had been changed to 366. so when i changed it back my system became completely unstable.

    my system is this
    mobo: Abit BE6-2.0
550 PIII (slot 1 of course)
    320 megs Sdram
the rest realy shouldnt matter. but if im missing something and you think you can help. just ask.

I get things like memory errors (blue screens of death) random lockups...

I have to run my processor at 366Mhz. so this severly limits my Gameing ability. I cant play tribes 2 at all like this. So Please if you have any suggestions at all. post them or contact me VIA icq or email.

    Thanks.

    dear sir,

in my 6yrs of professional repair service, id immediatly back up any data you can, then start to look at your processor and memory, (going bad) im aware of some processors after getting hot like the p4 to immediatly cut its work load in half , i feel something is amist hardware related my friend.
1ghz processors were or will be end of lifed by intel this month (p3 1ghz) im definately sure if im right its hardware related you can find a new cpu super cheap, im not up on the antivirus stuff, and arent sure of any virus to do such damage, check multiplier and such in cmos settings. hope any of this helps, i run 2k here on a p3600 512 mb pc133 ram and have never seen what you are experiencing.

Hmm, i tried a buncha stuff, i have yet to test my ram out. would that even be a contributing factor to something like this?
im pretty bitter after unnecessarily reinstalling win2k. and im not going to be impressed with having to replace my mobo...

well as a rule that i follow, if a reload didnt fix the problem...( was there a format or fdisk involved?) then its definately hardware related, couldnt hurt to try new ram, maybe borrow a stick from a friend and try it.
if i think of anything else ill post.

Turns out it is a ram piece. good thing its only a 64 meg chip.
course i didnt manage to follow the number 1 rule for computer troubleshooting. "undo the last thing you did"
now i have to check my settings...

    Thanks R23 for the advice.
