    Stats

We had much debate last night online about stats and how they work. I've read about every web page I can find, and the docs directory, and things don't seem to add up. I'm hoping someone might have an idea how it works.

    I guess 3 questions:

    1) What qualifies as an objective and is it the same as a task? For example, if you need 600 XP EARNED AS SOLDIER OR AGGRESSOR and 2 OBJECTIVES COMPLETED BY DESTRUCTION to earn an Assault Shield, does completing the 600 XP count as an objective and earn you a rank? I ask this because I went from conscript to Private without completing any shields (but did complete the 600xp in engineering portion of it), and for 38 ranks (including conscript) - there aren't enough awards to reach 38 - there are only 24 shield/star/wreaths.

    2) What's the difference between distinctions, 1st honors, and 2nd honors?

    3) Something is screwy, because I only play on ranked servers, and I know I've completed at least several objectives as engineer including blowing up entrances, map objectives, etc. But looking at my stats: Hylander's Stats it shows below that predicted next award is the Engineering Shield Engineering Shield:

    1 OF 2 TASKS SATISFIED
    50% COMPLETED

This is why I think a "task" is every line listed to earn an award. (See question #1) So you can rank up alot faster than you earn awards. The docs say "One rank is awarded for each Task completed. "

But if you hit 'details' on my rank under achievement progress - it shows 0 objectives achieved through construction. Well, I built a guard tower at least 4 times last night as engineer. I know I've achieved building at least part of the bridge 3 or 4 times. They don't count? What does?!?

    Color me confused...

1.) An objective is what needs to be completed to move onto the next stage of the map. In the Valley for isntance. The first objective is the bridge (Engineers), The second is the MCP which is for everyone, the Third is a Hack for (Covert Ops), and lastly blowing up the stroggafier (Soldiers).

On a side note, Covert ops and Engineers have it rough when completing thier objectives. I have completed numerous objectives as both a engineer and CO and have only got credit for a handful of them. I think it is currently bugged in the since you have to do it from start to finish by yourself.

    2.) No idea atm

3.) Task aka mini missions are for class xp. Hit your "M" button to bring them all up during a fight and see thier reward. As a constructor dropping, Defense Turrents is a task, dropping mines are a task, repairing stuff is a task. Engineer is the easiest class to get XP with because you can spend the whole game repairing and ranking up. But the objectives are a pain atm.

I don't think this is correct because if it were, you'd receive a rank everytime you completed one.

"One rank is awarded for each Task completed. " This is from the documentation and the sites I've read.

I think a "task" relates to each thing you need to do to receive an award. 600XP in a certain class or activity is a "task" that needs to be accomplished. If you need 600XP and 2 constructions - that is 2 tasks required to earn the Shield. But you will have gained 2 ranks during that process.

Your rank has to do with the number of steps you have completed in gaining badges.

For example the first soldiers badge consist of
    1) earn 600 xp as a soldier
    2) blow up 2 objectives

completing either of these gives you a rank, completing boh gives you two ranks and the badge.

Another example is the small arms badge.
    This actually has (3) stages
    (1) 200xp with assult rifle
    (2) 200xp with scoped assult rifle
    (3) 200xp with grenade launcher or grenades.

    3 ranks 1 badge.

    Edit:
Bleh never mind we are saying the same thing, I think I explained it wrong above.

    - Yeah, we are saying the same thing now. I just think the "terminology" is confusing. But the way you explained it is the way I was at least trying to describe it as well.

Kind of unrelated, but I've noticed that some of the stat-tracking sites are far more up to date than others.
