    XP in QW

FC and I were curious about earning XP and what it meant. I found the following article - which was new to me - and I thought I would post it. If someone knows if there are any benefits to having a higher rank (persistent ranking) I would like to know. Right now it seems only as a means of identifying experienced players over noobs.

    Experience System and Rewards

XP can actually help in the campaign as well. All the classes recieve upgrades pertaining to thier class. It only last as long as the campaign but it still helps.

Strogg medics for example rez faster, make spawn host faster, carry more stroyent and get them back faster, as well you can call in vehicle support. as a strogg there are a few maps where you can call in an Icuras for support. For example the Volcano map an icarus is a big help.

Anyway im reading the article now.

In terms of "rankings" it doesn't really offer anything more than statistics and the ranks associated with it.

However, in game, every match you earn XP and as you do, you get upgrades during that match as Bojan described. Saturday night, I earned 8 upgrades in 1 match.

To view your upgrades in game you can hit the "L" key to go into limbo mode. There is a tab that that says rewards. It will show you the rewards you have earned as well as how close you are o recieving your next upgrades.

Through the limbo mode you can also look at your persistant stats, which are the ranking that really dont count for anything but bragging rights.

In the limbo mode you can also switch teams, switch classes, and or weapons.

I know as an engineer I usually pick up the grenade launcher/ plasma launcher asap as well when playin a soldier I swap between the Rocket Launcher and Hyperblaster quite often depending on what i am doing at the moment.

That's why I thought. I saw some kid with colonel tags and just wanted to be sure that he didn't have an unfair advantage in the game just because he played more often than I did.

That's the good thing about the current system - you aren't at a disadvantage simply because you don't play 12 hours a day.
