My apologies to StitchJones, I'm about 1 more game problem from kicking PC gaming to the fricken curb and going console.

Server patched to 1.2 and running 8 bots on GDF. If we can figure out how to administer it via the in-game console, great, if not, I can use Remote Desktop to go straight into the box and run it that way. Password will be posted in the private forum--if you don't have access, just ask us on Ventrilo.

I propose running ARK on defense (as GDF) as our first practice. It's a good map to talk about turret placement, mining objectives and the like.

I don't know anything about server management, but it'd be nice to be able to start with all live players on one team, set everything up, then add bots to the other side on the fly and wait for them to assault our position. Possible?

I played around with it during lunch but I didnt see teh admin password in the private forums at the time and used the other one, which resulted in me not being able to do anything :P . I will play around with it again after work.

Also those bots are crack shots, not the best in AI but in a gun fight I lose 100% of the time.

I cant join the server with the admin password it seems and it will not let me click the admin login tab ingame.

I am not sure if this has something to do with the usergroups setup or not.

Still playing with it and am on vent if anyone has any info. But as of now cannot move, add, bots or change maps ect.

Here is some info i found.

CONFIGURING ADMIN:
In order to allow clients to have admin access to your server, you must configure the usergroups.dat file located in the /base folder of the server. Open the file with a text editor such as notepad or wordpad. The first and foremost thing that needs to be done is set the admin password as such:

Find the line that appears as:

// password PASSWORD

Remove the '//', and specify the password you want where 'PASSWORD' appears above.

Close as save the file, and then start your server. Clients will then be able to use the specified password to access the in-game admin controls.

Sorry I couldn't make it. (Assuming it was tonight you were talking about.) But I have a previous obligation for tuesdays and thursdays. Those take me till 9:00 PST. so I am pretty much out of it. If you ever have another day in mind let me know. Wednesdays and Sunday's are my WoW raid nights, Tuesday and Thursday I am busy outside of gaming, Monday, Friday or Saturdays (Sometimes busy on Sat.) i'm usually free.

Good turnout last night. It became obvious rather quickly that we need to work on some stuff.

Yep. Great turn out. I think once we start to have actual practices on our server where we can define roles for everyone and strategies/tactics we'll get better quickly. We are still in the "go out and get open" pug mentality on these Thursday night sessions.

Let's work on getting our AK server accessible and ready for next Thursday this week.
