Patch has me out

This new patch has completely knocked me out of the game. When I enter a server it crashes with a windows error.

I have downloaded both ati latest drivers and neither work on my laptop (only comp I have now, ati Mobility radeon x600 card) so I am out unless someone knows a fix that I cant find.


Sorry I have been away, My Father has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks. Lung collapsed and now we find out its due to cancer. We finally got him home as he has started kemo treatments. he can at least breath on his own now which is great news. Anyways, thats where I have been.

Now I am finally home and cant play qw...
Any suggestions?

I've been in the same boat for two weeks and quite frustrated. However, I found the solution:

in catalyst control panel enable triple buffering
in catalyst control panel disable Catalyst AI
in catalyst control panel set all other options to application controlled
in autoexec set imape_picmip 2


You may not have an autoexec.bat. Open notepad and add the following:

set logtimestamps "1"
set logfile "2"
set logFileName "console_$Y-$M-$D_$h.$m.$s.log"
set developer "1"
com_usefastvidrestart 1
set imape_picmip 2


Save this file as c:\Documents and Settings\(your name)\id Software\Enemy Territory - Quake Wares\base\autoexec.bat

The key portion is the last line, which solved it for me. The second to the last line (usefastvidrestart) forces the game to run in window mode. I'm going to be removing that line later tonight and ensure that the game works as the last line seems to be the fix.

Hey guys. Try this....it cant hurt. I was trolling a few forums seeing if anyone else was having your issues. A few folks said they had to update the VisualC++ libs and got it to work after the patch. They said they believe the new patch requires an updated library or 2 ....worth a shot. Hope it helps.

Sry to hear that fight, hope everything is well. Im out for a whole other issue, seems the game dosent work if you run a certain version of Trend Micro system anti virus. I havent been able to log on in quite a few days. This is actully making me want a refund for the game as all my emails go "this is a known issue and working to fix". I havent been a ble to play for quite some time. There is a fix but requires a registy entry to be changed and I guess im not that smart when it comes to computers cause its not working, To top it off now I get a windows error message when I first log in. At least blizz tried to fix issues when ther was one. Im one pissed camel. and out 49.95!

This is lame.. I have a 50 dallor game that i cant play. Has anyone figured out a fix yet that I dont know?

I've got it running about 80% of the time. When I do get it launched and running, I don't shut it down that's why you will see me online but not on a server.

The steps I used worked. I just downloaded the new ATI drivers (7.11) but it didn't make a difference). I'm still waiting for a patch to fix this problem.

Did you try the same steps as me?

After the patch I had the crash problems as well but after I thoroughly removed all remnants of drivers past, and re-installed with the latest drivers from AMD/ATI for my X1900 Radeon - the problem went away and the game runs well. I might be down a few fps, but I haven't had any crashes (other than the game server going down in game which has nothing to do with my PC) since then. But other than that, I'm sorry I don't have any other suggestions that haven't already been made.
