Oh, and EA can take 'ORIGIN' and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

Just wondering Hy what is it about Origin that you don't like pretty much like steam just not as well done, same basic concept though.

Gunny - Although I admit I like STEAM and the way it manages the games/updates, etc - and it works pretty damn well now, I just don't like being forced to have yet another application or client running in order to play a game.
The last I saw origin, it was a cluster f@#k of an application that sucked up resources in the background. Plus, in general, I don't have alot of trust or faith in EA. So the less I have to be 'married' to them - the better.
I pre-ordered through Amazon, but I am aware I'll still have to have Origin in order to run the game. I fully expect a ton of crashing, punk buster problems, and a slow response from EA during the launch.

At least during the Beta I'll be able to see how much computer I'll need.
It's been years since I followed what's the best bang for the buck. Anyone got a good resource to help me decide what new hardware to get?
Hasta,
Boom
Sonic,
Go over to MaximumPC.com and check out the 'Best of the Best'. They give a money is no object recommendation, a mid-range, and a budget recommendation.
This is my current system:
UNIT-1
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
Intel i7-2600K Processor (3.4GHz)
ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 DDR3 ATX Motherboard
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800)
Corsair Air Series A50 Performance CPU Cooler CAFA50
BFG GS-650 Power Supply
EVGA GeForce GTX 470 Superclocked 1280mb Video Card
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 Sound Card
DELL UltraSharp 2209WA 22″ Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD Monitor
DELL UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD Monitor (Portrait mode)
I can pretty much run everything at near full eye candy at 1680x1050 resolution (Native for my monitors). However, I may upgrade my video card to a 580 if I think BF3 is worth it.

No thanks, I want to play with those who wear big boy pants. Purchasing for a console doesn't exclude games from having nasty bugs and problems either.
If they ever get to a point where you can play on the console using a keyboard and mouse, and you can compete with those on the PC at the same time - I would consider adding a box to my "PC" setup. But until then, the 360 is probably going to serve much more as a multimedia box than a gaming platform for me. It's not about the looks/graphics or even the gameplay, it's just the overall experience I enjoy on the PC more. I never say never though.

Played it for a bit this morning. I liked Bad Company 2 better. Don't like to have to access the game through a web browser (seems really lazy of the devs), don't like Origin, and cringe at having to unlock all those individual upgrades for every weapon.

Wow video card denied! Thats a first for me.......Anyone know any beta drivers that can get me to play. Nvida 8800gt <---------guess Im getting old. Dont have cash for new vid card right now!
Enjoying it quite a bit. I joined AK group - just waiting for approval.
Also, I downloaded the latest BETA drivers for my 470, and performance seems pretty solid but I am getting a lot of 'flashing' and 'flickering' from time to time. No, it's not flashlights or such - it's the actual screen. Is anyone else experiencing these 'flashes'? I see reports of it on the EA forums, but not a whole lot of discussion about it in terms of solutions, ideas, and such.

Hey Camel,
Sent you a PM. I have a video card you can have if you want it, which would be a decent step up.
Later,
Ab
