    Being a Private

So, I don't have the highest expectations of my skills, but I didn't think I'd be this bad either.. Shooting people (or seemingly shooting people) nearly point blank and not getting a kill - rather getting smoked with what seems like 1 maybe 2 shots.

Question is, is there really that big of an advantage for folks who have 10K/20K/30K+ points and associated unlocks? Or is it more along the lines of just needing more seat time, and hopefully developing some killer skills.

I don't expect to be the feared killer, but I'd think I could do a little better than I am now.

I would say it is a combination of both - I felt the exact same way when I started.

The unlocks come pretty quickly, and once you get that first weapon upgrade I found that helps out a lot. If you are trying to shoot someone that is a high level, keep in mind that they may have body armor upgrades that make them harder to kill.

It took me a few hours of play to get where I actually could shoot people and kill them. I'm only a level 9 now and I think I'm on pretty even playing ground with even he high level folks. Don't worry, it gets better.

Swae is getting so good now, that she killed someone with an AED.....(I think it was Sedious, maybe nutz). Either way look out! Her new name should be Sparky..

Thanks Swae. I kinda figured it'd be a bit of both. Guess I'll just have to put iRacing on the back burner for a few weeks and see how much time I can log in some hot and heavy gun slinging action. Hopefully I can start getting a few more than the 100-200 points per match I have been.

Good point about the body armor also - think I'll have to get me some of that!

There's no question that you have to take your lumps early on. The weapon upgrades make a big difference, but at least 50% of it is learning the maps and learning how to play (beyond your class specifics.)

Lots of beginning players pay no attention to spotting (either doing it, or responding to spotted players.) They run around like deathmatchers, right down the middle of streets. They sit in stationary gun positions way too long. They fail to repair vehicles. They shoot tanks from the front. They fire from a window, back away, and then go right back to the same window to shoot from again. They fail to take into account bullet drop. They forget the grenade, the knife, the pistol.

There's little tricks that you pick up on that only come through playing. When to stop and look, when to move. Just keep after it.

    Hold up there Mister....

I've only been running in John Henry's private league on Thursday nights. I've just been taking a bit of a breather and regrouping. I'll probably try and get back into running more next season. I'd really like to tackle the COT and either the Dallara or Daytona Prototype. With the Mustang, ALM, V8 Supercars, etc.. there are just so many options to choose from. I also heard a rumor about possibly having another vintage sports car licensed soon as well. I'm hoping with Chaparral. www.chaparralcars.com

Move like a sniper has their cross hairs on you, because they probably do! I would start as assault and use the grenade launcher (noob toob) as much as possible. It is a one shot kill even on the big kids. It can get frustrating to start, but you will get the body armor soon.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to joining you here shortly. Had a good break-out game earlier. Got my ammo drop, a few dogtags, and cracked 1K for a match.
